According to GM’s president in South America, Carlos Zarlenga, GM is committed to becoming a leader in the electric car sector in the region, and increasing the number of qualified dealerships is a significant step for this strategy. Thus, Chevrolet becomes the largest network specialized in electric cars in Brazil. Chevrolet had already launched dealerships in 14 cities across seven Brazilian states and the Federal District.

With the expansion, Chevrolet now has the largest network for serving electric cars in Brazil, which is composed of 20 states and over 50 cities. The new Chevrolet dealerships offer support for electric cars and will also share the same location with other products. The key differentiator is the sale of the home station that charges the battery quickly.

The Bolt EV began selling in March of last year and ended the year as one of the best-selling electric cars in Brazil. Over 130 units of the model have been sold so far. The model features a 203-horsepower engine that allows it to reach 100 km/h in about 7 seconds, along with a 66 kWh battery that provides a range of 416 kilometers on a full charge.

The model has been restyled and its new version SUV is set to debut by the end of this year in Brazil. Currently, GM only sells this electric car in Brazil, but this year, the brand stated it plans to invest around R$ 10 billion to advance vehicle electrification in the country.

About Chevrolet

Chevrolet was born after an invitation to driver Louis Chevrolet to drive one of the prototypes for GM, and in 1911, Chevrolet emerged, launching a prototype that quickly gained popularity, which led to large-scale production after some time.

In Brazil, the first factory arrived in 1925, in the Ipiranga neighborhood, and even with the global economy in crisis due to World War I, sales continued to rise, resulting in Brazil having another Chevrolet factory installed in Caetano do Sul within two years, up to where it stands today.
