Yinson Production Held Naming Ceremony for FPSO at Dubai Drydocks World, Which Will Operate in Enauta’s Field Off the Coast of Brazil.
Yinson Production, a subsidiary of Yinson Holdings, an energy infrastructure and technology company based in Kuala Lumpur, held a naming ceremony at Dubai Drydocks World in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for an FPSO production, storage and offloading vessel intended to work in Enauta’s field off the coast of Brazil. Yinson Production officially named the FPSO Atlanta during a naming ceremony held at Dubai Drydocks World, in Dubai, on December 13, 2023. This floating production vessel will operate in the Atlanta field in the Santos Basin offshore Brazil for Enauta under a 15-year lease and operation contract, with an optional five-year extension, totaling up to US$ 2 billion. This comes less than two weeks after the Malaysian FPSO player welcomed Brazilian dignitaries who came to visit the production vessel.
Yinson Production Holds Naming Ceremony for FPSO Atlanta
Commenting on the naming ceremony, Grønnegaard highlighted: ‘We have made steady progress on the FPSO Atlanta project driven by our strong adherence to our project execution philosophy, our dedicated and experienced team, and the unwavering support from our client and stakeholders. We appreciate the trust that Enauta has placed in us by awarding the project to Yinson Production, and we remain committed to enhancing access to stable and affordable energy in the South American region.’
The Presence of Key Figures at the Naming Ceremony
The naming ceremony was attended by the site manager of the FPSO Atlanta and Lady Sponsor, Maria Eduarda Pessoa, and witnessed by the Executive Director of Production at Yinson, Flemming Grønnegaard; CEO of Enauta Energia, Décio Oddone; the production project manager at Yinson for the FPSO Atlanta, Scott Bendiksen; and the CEO of Drydocks World, Captain Rado Antolovic, along with members of the board of directors and senior management of Yinson Production and Enauta.

Rado Antolovic Describes Plans for FPSO Atlanta
‘We are proud of our ongoing RLEC (Repair, Life Extension, and Conversion) work for the newly named FPSO Atlanta. Upon completion, we are confident in the longevity of the FPSO Atlanta offshore Brazil without dry-docking. The naming ceremony is another milestone in this project, which has a broad scope for Drydocks World, including the fabrication and installation of 3,000 tons of structure.’ Antolovic elaborated.
Details About the Capacity and Sustainability of FPSO Atlanta
With production capacity of 50,000 bopd and a maximum storage capacity of 1,251,000 barrels, the FPSO Atlanta will feature an efficient carbon management process plant that uses fuel gas for cargo tank inerting. This is expected to significantly reduce combustion gas emissions through a closed combustion system and represents part of Yinson Production’s ongoing sustainability efforts to reduce carbon emissions while establishing itself as a pioneer in the decarbonization of the FPSO industry towards the net-zero emissions goal.
Scott Bendiksen Highlights Commitment to the Highest Safety Standards
Bendiksen emphasized: ‘We are proud to have maintained zero lost-time incidents after nearly 7 million work hours for the FPSO Atlanta. We remain committed to the highest SMS standards and will ensure that the project’s progress is on track, anticipating its departure to Brazil. Collaborating with Enauta has been a fruitful endeavor, further solidifying Yinson Production’s strong presence in the region.’
Contract Between Enauta and Yinson for the Conversion of FPSO Atlanta
Enauta signed a contract with Yinson for the conversion of the existing production unit – acquired in February 2022 – so that the FPSO could be used for the Full Development System (FDS) of the Atlanta field. under the same terms specified in the letter of intent (LoI) from December 2021. By July 2023, Yinson exercised its purchase option for the FPSO Atlanta through the acquisition of all shares of AFPS, the owner of the vessel.
Ongoing Projects and Recertification of FPSO
According to the FPSO owner, the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of this FPSO are progressing steadily. Upon completion, the asset will be the second of three FPSO vessels that Yinson Production will deploy in Brazil.
Complete Development of the Atlanta Field by Enauta Energia
Oddone described: ‘Phase 1 of Atlanta is rapidly advancing toward first oil in 2024. The adaptation of the FPSO is an important milestone for Enauta. To achieve this goal, we have already carried out several activities. The Full Field Development System positions Enauta as a pioneer among independents in executing a deep-water project.’
‘The FPSO Atlanta features many engineering solutions and innovations to reduce emission intensity. The project demonstrates how the oil and gas industry can positively operate within its operational limits, responsibly, safely, and efficiently.’
Details About the Atlanta Field and the Operation of FPSO
The Atlanta field has been producing since 2018 through an Early Production System (EPS), which includes three wells connected to the FPSO Petrojarl I. Following the recent recertification, this FPSO is expected to continue operating in the field until the entry of the FDS in 2024 with six wells, reaching ten wells by 2029.
Located in block BS-4, in the Santos Basin, at a depth of 1,500 meters, the Atlanta field is operated by Enauta Energia, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, which also holds 100% of stake in this resource.
