Offshore Giant in the Riser Segment Has Arrived in Brazil, Acquired 100% of Another Company in the Field, and Is Already Setting Up. Opportunities Ahead.
The company Oil States offshore is maximizing its horizons in the DPR inspection sector (drilling risers), and as such, it ended up buying the company MR Inspection last week. With this acquisition, the company’s activities will occur both onshore and offshore. The CEO of the Brazil branch, Marcio Robles, reported that in the future the company will also operate in production DPRs; currently, it only works in drilling. Subsea equipment and connector manufacturing are also part of the planning.
Why Did Oil States Buy MR Inspection?
The main goal of Oil States was to save on logistics, as inspecting and maintaining these risers requires offloading equipment, and then reloading it, which demands significant cost and time. Based on this, the decision to purchase MR Inspection was made, as it was the only company with this type of expertise. With the development of a technology, it is now possible to significantly reduce these costs, as this type of work can now be done offshore.
New Contracts on the Way
It is being highly sought after by large companies in Brazil and Singapore. Many offshore companies are already requesting quotes. The company is truly experiencing a great moment of optimism.
