Fiat’s Mid-Size Pickup Caught Testing Will Have Argentine Production, Updated 2.2 Diesel Engine for the Entire Line, New Automatic Transmission, and Disc Brakes on All Four Wheels.
The FIAT Titano, launched in 2024, is already preparing a series of significant updates for the 2026 line. A recent sighting of a camouflaged unit indicates advanced testing, possibly already with the new 2.2 turbo diesel engine generating 200 hp.
In addition to the renewed mechanics, the pickup will change its manufacturing location and will receive important safety features, such as disc brakes on all four wheels and ADAS assistance, to make the new FIAT Titano 2026 a stronger rival to the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux.
Argentine Production Aiming at Ranger and Hilux
The new FIAT Titano 2026 is under development, as evidenced by a recent capture from the @Placaverde profile showing a camouflaged unit in testing. An important change will be the production location: the pickup will no longer be manufactured in Uruguay and will be imported from Córdoba, Argentina, information anticipated by the Auto Segredos website.

Jaecoo 7 with super hybrid SHS system exceeds 1,200 km of combined range with a 1.5 turbo engine, high-density battery, and intelligent energy management.
This movement is part of the strategy to strengthen the Titano, a project of Chinese origin sold under different brands of the Stellantis group globally, in the competitive mid-size pickup segment in Brazil. The goal is to directly challenge the Ford Ranger, especially its entry-level versions with a 2.0 engine producing 170 hp, and the leader Toyota Hilux, equipped with a 2.8 engine generating 204 hp.
2.2 Diesel Engine with 200 HP for the Entire Line

Confirming previous reports and following the Toro and Rampage, all versions of the new FIAT Titano 2026 will be equipped with the 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine. The update meets the new emissions standards of Proconve PL8. This engine delivers 200 horsepower and 45.9 kgfm of torque (updated specification), promising superior performance compared to the current engine. The adoption of electric steering, mentioned earlier, is also expected to assist in efficiency and the implementation of safety systems.
Transmission and Traction: Manual and 8-Speed Automatic Options
The mechanical update will also bring changes to the transmission. The entry-level version (Endurance) will maintain a six-speed manual transmission. The intermediate (Volcano) and top-of-the-line (Ranch) versions will receive an eight-speed automatic transmission, replacing the previously speculated six-speed and aligning it with other modern pickups. The traction options will remain the same: 4×2, 4×4, and 4×4 with reduction.
Visual and Technological Update on the Way
In addition to the mechanics, the new FIAT Titano 2026 will undergo a visual redesign, likely inspired by the recent update of the Changan Hunter (the basis for the project). Changes are expected to the front grille, headlights, bumpers, and exterior finish details. The interior will also receive improvements, especially in terms of onboard technology, such as a new digital instrument cluster and possibly a new steering wheel, enhancing the onboard experience.
Enhanced Safety: Disc Brakes on All Four Wheels and Confirmed ADAS
Safety will see a significant evolution. One of the most important updates is the adoption of disc brakes on all four wheels, a significant upgrade for the category. Additionally, the new FIAT Titano 2026 will incorporate ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), confirming features such as autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control (ACC), and blind spot alert.
Versions and Prices: What to Expect from the 2026 Line
Currently, the FIAT Titano is sold in the Endurance (R$ 219,990), Volcano (R$ 239,990), and Ranch (R$ 259,990) versions. With the introduction of the new 2.2 engine generating 200 hp, the 8-speed transmission, safety improvements, and the facelift, a price adjustment is expected for the new FIAT Titano 2026 line. The increase may be in the range of R$ 10,000 observed in other powertrain updates within Stellantis. The updates are expected to hit the market throughout 2025, solidifying the 2026 model.
