If You Think Renewing the National Driver’s License (CNH) Is Just a Formality, Get Ready for a Big Change. A New Proposal Is About to Become Law and Promises to Deeply Impact the Lives of Millions of Brazilian Drivers.

Approved by the Commission of Transportation and Transit of the Chamber of Deputies, the measure requires all drivers, without exception, to undergo a psychological evaluation during the renewal of their CNH.

The proposal, authored by Senator Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), has already been approved in the Senate and is now advancing to other committees in the Chamber of Deputies before heading to presidential sanction.

The measure seeks to amend the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), introducing the requirement for a psychological evaluation for all drivers at the time of their license renewal.

Currently, this evaluation is conducted only for candidates for the first license and for professional drivers. If the law is signed, all drivers will need to undergo this periodic psychological analysis, something that promises to bring more safety to traffic.

The Importance of Mental Health Behind the Wheel

According to Senator Davi Alcolumbre, a driver’s psychological conditions can change over the years, justifying the need for regular reassessments.

“The psychological state of a candidate for the first license may not be the same at renewal. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that everyone is in adequate mental condition to drive a vehicle safely“, stated the senator.

Deputy Hugo Leal (PSD-RJ), the project’s rapporteur, also emphasized the importance of this measure. According to him, many traffic accidents in Brazil are caused by recklessness, negligence, or lack of skill, often associated with adverse psychological conditions.

“This initiative is essential to identify problems that may undermine the ability to drive safely”, said Leal.

The implementation of this measure could have a significant impact on the safety of Brazilian roads. The psychological evaluation will be a crucial tool for detecting emotional or behavioral disturbances that could negatively influence driving, thus reducing the risk of accidents.

Furthermore, this approach may contribute to a more harmonious coexistence on the roads by identifying drivers who may pose a risk to themselves and others.

Isso não tem nada a ver com trânsito , isso é só mais uma forma de lesar o bouço do cidadão, quantos PM e civil federal fazem psicotécnico pra fazer valer a lei e quantos estão exercendo essa profissão e fazendo barbaridade matando e tirando a própria vida será que isso é psicológico acho que não isso é falta de Deus no coração pra qualquer função na vida
