The mayors from the Celeiro region attended a meeting in Crissiumal at the beginning of the year, along with the vice president of the Mercosur Parliament, Deputy Celso Russomanno, and all members of the Binational Commission, to discuss the project. The meeting was coordinated by the mayor of Crissiumal, Marco Aurélio Nedel.
Russomanno, representing the Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, confirmed that the funds needed for the construction of the project, estimated at over R$ 100 million, are already guaranteed by the Structural Convergence Fund of Mercosur (FOCEM).
The bilateral bridge between El Soberbio and Porto Soberbio, measuring 464 meters in length, will be the shortest bilateral crossing between the two countries and is considered a fundamental project for consolidating regional integration and fostering economic development.
The mayor of Três Passos, Arlei Tomazoni, highlighted the state government’s commitment to finance the preparation of the project’s executive design. He also suggested the name Bridge of Prosperity, emphasizing the positive impact of the project.
Government Speaks Out About Bilateral Bridge Between El Soberbio and Porto Soberbio
With the decision of the government of Rio Grande do Sul to assume the project’s costs, the bilateral bridge is moving towards becoming a reality, strengthening itself as a fundamental pillar for the advancement and integration of the region. Vice Governor Gabriel Souza was present in Brasília last month to meet with ministers and representatives of the federal government.
Among the topics discussed were international bridges, railways, and the situation of farmers impacted by recent adverse weather events. Gabriel explains that, as they are bridges linking two countries, development must occur through bilateral agreements between the Brazilian and Argentine governments.
The preliminary projects provided and subsidized by the state government, in this case, are crucial for the process, as well as being a way to contribute, as the structures are also of interest for advancing the economy of RS.
