The new gas aid will be distributed in voucher starting in September, as announced by the federal government in a meeting at the Palácio da Alvorada, according to information from O Globo. Unlike the previous model, in which the benefit was paid in cash, the new version will be granted in the form of exclusive credit for the purchase of a 13 kg gas cylinder.
The value of the voucher will be defined according to the average price of the cylinder in each state, established based on the average and median cost of the input in each federative unit. The change aims to prevent misappropriation of the benefit and ensure that resources actually reach kitchen gas consumption.
How the New Gas Aid Will Work
According to the government, the new gas aid will be distributed in electronic or physical vouchers, which can be used directly at authorized kitchen gas dealers. These establishments will follow the reference prices defined in a joint ordinance between the Ministry of Mines and Energy and the Ministry of Finance.

According to the government, in addition to improving targeting, the voucher will allow for greater predictability of expenses, as the value will be linked to objective parameters defined for each state.
However, experts warn that by fixing the benefit based on state averages, there may be distortions in regions where gas prices vary greatly between urban and rural areas. Even so, the measure is considered a step forward in the attempt to ensure continuous access to kitchen gas, an essential item for millions of Brazilians in vulnerable situations.

With the new gas aid distributed in voucher, the purchasing process will be simplified. The beneficiary family can go to an authorized point, present the document that proves the right to assistance, and withdraw the cylinder at no cost.
This model reinforces the government’s goal of ensuring dignity in basic consumption, preventing families from having to choose between buying gas, food, or paying monthly bills. Furthermore, the measure should stimulate the network of resellers, creating a more predictable flow of demand.
