The Focus Is On The Oil And Gas Industry
With the aim of providing a platform to enhance cooperation and collaboration between organizations, API and Abendi are launching a partnership to offer unprecedented API certification for non-destructive testing inspectors focused on the oil and gas industry outside the United States.
The API certification involves assessing professionals’ knowledge and experience in techniques used for inspecting materials and equipment without destroying or damaging them.
The technique is used from manufacturing, construction, and assembly to maintenance. Since 2020, the entities have had a partnership that includes training and information exchange to facilitate technical communication with the Brazilian market and collaborate in joint forums to facilitate the exchange between Brazilian and American experts in the oil and gas industry. The launch will take place on the 26th at 2 PM at the API stand.
Shortly after, at 4 PM, API and Inmetro will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at supporting compliance with the regulatory agenda and adapting the legal control model for the oil and gas segment in Brazil.
The document promotes cooperation, information exchange on standards to facilitate the translation and implementation of API Standards and Programs by the local industry, and the participation of Brazilian and American experts in meetings, groups, and other opportunities conducted by the Institute and Inmetro in the preparation and discussion of information about the oil and gas sector, in addition to putting into practice collaboration in conducting joint forums, conferences, round tables, workshops, and other similar activities.
The MOU will be signed at the stand of the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) with the presence of the Senior Vice President of Global Industry Services at API, Anchal Liddar, the Director of Legal Metrology, Periceles Vianna, and representatives from the U.S. Consulate.
On the 27th, the Automotive Lubricants Training Program from IQA, supported by API, will be announced at stand 38 located in the Kobra Pavilion. This launch will help the market better understand the impact of lubricant quality on engines and will provide more safety for the end consumer, as Brazilian companies will have access to products with quality certified by API.
In Brazil, about 10% of the oils sold do not meet the minimum quality requirements. The union of IQA and API aims to overcome this challenge of establishing high-quality oils. The event will feature the presence of Scott Garten, Vice President of Certification and Training at API, and Alexandre Xavier, Superintendent of IQA.
Brazilian companies such as Ocyan are seeing productivity gains and revenue growth through the implementation of international standards. Ocyan estimates a revenue gain of US$ 200 million with a certification strategy by independent companies over the last five years. In March 2022, Ocyan’s Drilling Unit achieved API Q2 certification, which establishes requirements for a Quality Management System focused on excellence in service delivery for the oil and natural gas sector. According to Heitor Gioppo, Vice President of the Drilling Unit at Ocyan, “this API Q2 certification crowns our efforts towards operational efficiency that began in 2016.”
