After 45 years since its debut in Europe, the Honda Prelude is set to return to the market, now in an electrified version. But the question remains: will this classic make it to Brazil?
The Honda Prelude, a model that marked an era with its performance and technology, will return to the European market, but this time as a hybrid. Announced by Honda at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the new Prelude promises to bring back the “joy of driving” to the brand’s fans. However, the big question is: will this new model also arrive on Brazilian shores?

The reveal of the new concept took place during the Goodwood Festival of Speed and was also showcased at the Japan Mobility Show. The new Honda Prelude comes with a refreshed look, keeping the front engine and front-wheel drive, characteristics that were successful in the past. However, the big novelty is its electrification.
Returns to Fill the Space Left by the Civic Si
Derived from the Accord, the Prelude returns to fill the space left by the Civic Si, which was discontinued following the launch of the eleventh generation of the Civic in the U.S. Although the Type R tried to fill this gap, it is a large hatchback, not a two-door coupe like the Prelude.
Engine and Consumption
The new Honda Prelude will be a hybrid, but not much detailed information has been released about the engine and consumption. It is speculated that the car could be equipped with the same 1.5 Turbo engine from the Accord, with options for a regular hybrid system and a plug-in hybrid. If confirmed, the power should range between 195 hp and 208 hp, depending on the configuration.
New Base
The concept presented has a production-ready design, without technological exaggerations like external screens. Behind the scenes, it is rumored that the Prelude will not use General Motors’ Ultium platform, but rather Honda’s platform, which should be the base for new electrified models starting in 2026.
Honda’s president, Toshihiro Mibe, stated that the new Honda Prelude will offer a unique driving experience that will make drivers want to keep driving indefinitely. Despite the lack of additional information, such as interior photos and detailed specifications, expectations are high for the return of this icon.
Honda Prelude in a Hybrid Version Is a Bold Move
Honda’s decision to bring back the Honda Prelude in a hybrid version is a bold and strategic move, especially considering the growing market for electric and hybrid cars in Europe and the United States.
The choice not to use the Ultium platform from GM may raise questions about the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the new Prelude. Honda will need to prove that it is a superior choice and that it will meet consumer expectations.
Does It Come to Brazil?
However, the lack of concrete information about the engine and consumption, along with the absence of a potential launch in Brazil, leaves many Brazilian fans frustrated and anxious. Will Honda consider the Brazilian market in its future strategies? In the European market, the new Honda Prelude is expected to arrive with prices starting at €30,000.
What remains now is to wait for more details and, of course, hope that the Honda Prelude finds its way to Brazil. After all, who wouldn’t want to see an icon like this on our streets?
