The global leader in testing, inspection, and certification (TIC), Bureau Veritas, opened the OPM Laboratory (Oil, Petrochemicals, and Minerals) in Fortaleza, Ceará. The new laboratory ensures the quality of petroleum products, as well as inspecting the volume of cargo imported and exported by Brazil and other countries in North America, Europe, and Asia in the first half of 2022.
In Ceará, fuel distributors sold more than 576,700 cubic meters of fuel in the first half of 2022, 5.8% more than in the first half of 2021, despite high prices in the state. The increase in gasoline consumption and the increase in diesel consumption were 5.8% and 0.38%, respectively, compared to 2021.
“Bureau Veritas has been working to build a more trusted world through rigorous quality control procedures across different industries for nearly 200 years. Our certifications are internationally recognized, providing greater security for businesses. The laboratory in Fortaleza has been meeting a growing demand in the region for greater efficiency in sampling and inspection, as well as for improved efficiency of cargo entering and leaving the ports of Fortaleza and Pecem,” says Guilherme Cauduro, Executive Director of Agribusiness & Commodities at Bureau Veritas.

To Ensure That Its Products Meet National and International Standards, Bureau Veritas’ New OPM Laboratory Conducts High-Precision Laboratory Testing and Trials.
The ANP requirements for fuels such as diesel, gasoline, ethanol, and others, as well as precious metals like gold, silver, and platinum, as well as iron, manganese, aluminum, and other key materials, are met in the Fortaleza region.
The Mucuripe region, the central city of Ceará, is where national and international companies in the oil, petrochemical, mineral, and metallurgical industries rely on the laboratory to ensure that their cargo is of high quality and quantity. To fulfill this role, the Fortaleza unit will operate continuously in the Mucuripe area, ensuring that all imported or exported items comply with national and international standards.
In The First Half of 2022, Over 6,000 Samples Were Analyzed, Certified, and Inspected to Reduce Risks and Increase Reliability in The Production Chain.
Bureau Veritas has eight more OPM laboratories near the main ports of Maranhão, Pernambuco, Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paranaguá, Espírito Santo, and Pará. In the first half of 2022 alone, over 6,000 samples were analyzed, certified, and inspected.
