According to the statement, the debris fell on the edge of the recovery area, rendering controlled landing impossible:

Despite the error, the company stated that it would conduct a “comprehensive review” and continue to advance reusable rocket technology in future missions.

The billionaire stated that the company might have incorporated elements from the Starship into the Zhuque-3 but noted that reaching the reliability level of the Falcon 9 will take more than five years.
Musk also stated that by then, SpaceX should be fully focused on Starship, designed to be fully reusable, including the upper stage, something that no company has yet achieved.
China Expands Investments And Accelerates Aerospace Goals
The explosion does not diminish national ambition. Beijing has reinforced that the space sector is strategic and that private companies will be essential in transforming the country into a “strong aerospace nation.”
LandSpace has already achieved important milestones, such as the world’s first successful orbital launch with a methane and liquid oxygen-powered rocket in 2023.
In addition, it plans to conduct missions to the Chinese space station starting in 2026.
Experts emphasize that the Chinese sector has grown rapidly.
Researcher Liu Yuzhang summarizes:
“From 2015 to this year 2025, exactly 10 years, China’s commercial space sector essentially went from nothing to a new critical point.”
