The Gross Value of Coffee Production (GVP) of Brazil, which corresponds to the total revenue of all coffee crops, both from the Coffea Arabica species (Arabica coffee) and from Coffes Canephora (robusta+canilon), reached a total value of R$ 55.9 billion in 2022, a value 25% higher than the total generated in 2021, which was the year when revenue was R$ 44.74 billion.
However, C. canephora, with a stimulated revenue of R$ 13.4 billion, represented about 24% of total revenue in 2022, marking a growth of almost 21.8% compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, C. arabica reached R$ 42.5 billion, corresponding to 76% of the total collected in 2022, with an increase of 26% compared to the value from 2021.
Based on these numbers, we can say that coffee growing contributes approximately 6.8% of the total revenue from Brazilian crops, which was around R$ 814.7 billion, placing this coffee sector in fourth place in the GVP ranking.
This analysis of the revenue of Brazilian coffees in 2022 was based on the data from the Gross Value of Production – GVP – in December 2022, which is compiled and also published monthly by the Department of Agricultural Policy – SPA, of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply – MAPA, and is also available in full, as are all other editions of this document, on the Coffee Observatory of the Coffee Research Consortium, an integrated network in research coordinated by Embrapa Café.

Based on this data regarding the gross revenues of coffee production in the country, a ranking of revenue was established for five geographical regions in Brazil, all of which produce coffee, considering both species.
In descending order, it shows that the Southeast Region ranks first, with over R$ 48.46 billion, equivalent to 86.7% of total revenue, followed by the Northeast Region, which had production calculated at around R$ 3.73 billion, a value corresponding to 6.6%.
Thirdly comes the North region, with over R$ 2.54 billion, accounting for about 4.5%; in fourth place is the South Region, with R$ 691.5 million in coffee activities, which is equivalent to 1.2%. And finally, in fifth place is the Central-West Region, which had revenue of R$ 463.57 million, corresponding to 0.8% of the total estimate for coffee crops in Brazil.
Completing this analysis focusing on Brazilian coffee crops, with the Conilon species, whose gross revenue in 2022 totaled R$ 13.37 billion, we can see that the ranking of the four producing regions, given that the Southern Region does not produce Conilon coffee, is as follows: in first position, the Southeast Region with R$ 9.14 billion, corresponding to 68.3%, followed by the North Region with R$ 2.5 billion. In third place is the Northeast Region, R$ 1.61 billion, and lastly, the Central-West Region with R$ 112.8 million.
