Volkswagen Sedan Aims at Corolla and Sentra for Price and Specifications, but the Use of a Rigid Rear Axle Remains a Point of Criticism.
The Virtus Exclusive 2025 was launched as the most sophisticated version of Volkswagen’s compact sedan, featuring a 1.4 TSI turbo engine with 150 hp, 18-inch wheels, and advanced safety features such as automatic emergency braking (AEB). With a starting price of R$ 160,640 (R$ 162,290 in Gray PL), the model directly competes against entry-level mid-size sedans like the Toyota Corolla and Nissan Sentra.
Despite the attractive package, the maintenance of the torsion beam rear axle instead of independent suspension has garnered criticism from experts, who see this point as the “Achilles’ heel” of the setup. Volkswagen bets on technology and engine performance to compensate for this technical limitation.
Design and Standard Equipment

At the front, the Virtus Exclusive features full LED headlights, LED DRL, and fog lights, as well as parking sensors.

Jaecoo 7 with super hybrid SHS system exceeds 1,200 km of combined range with a 1.5 turbo engine, high-density battery, and intelligent energy management.
The 18-inch wheels, fitted with Goodyear Eagle Touring 205/45 tires, reinforce the sporty appeal.
At the rear, the trunk with 521 liters stands out against competitors, with complete finishing and good sealing level.
The tank has 49 liters, compatible with the focus on efficiency.
Interior and Comfort
The interior of the Virtus Exclusive includes six airbags, a fully digital dashboard, VW Play center, digital air conditioning, and a wireless charger.
The rear seat features air vents and two USB-C ports, but lacks a central armrest, which is present in rivals in this price range.
The finishes mix soft materials and hard plastics, an area where the Corolla has the advantage.
Even so, the Virtus provides good interior space and a generous list of conveniences, such as keyless entry and automatic rain and light sensors.
Engine and Performance
The mechanical setup is one of the model’s strengths.
The 1.4 TSI turbo delivers 150 hp and 25.5 kgfm, paired with a 6-speed Aisin automatic transmission.
According to presenter Stanley Ravagnani, the average fuel consumption reaches 11.7 km/l in the city and 14 km/l on the highway, with reports from owners achieving up to 20 km/l under ideal conditions.
The performance is comparable to more expensive mid-size sedans, with quick acceleration and reliable responses.
The only weak point is the torsion beam rear suspension, which is less sophisticated than the independent one in the Corolla and may compromise comfort on rough surfaces.
Safety and Onboard Technology
The Virtus Exclusive 2025 comes with important driving assistance features, such as front collision warning and AEB (automatic emergency braking).
However, it does not offer a blind spot monitor, a feature already present in direct competitors.
Nevertheless, the list is comprehensive for the compact sedan segment, reinforcing Volkswagen’s strategy to position the model as a “middle ground” between premium compact and entry-level mid-size sedans.
Is It Worth More Than Corolla and Sentra?
In the R$ 160 thousand range, the Virtus Exclusive 2025 aims to attract consumers looking for a technological car, with a spacious trunk and convincing performance.
The 1.4 TSI engine, the 521-liter trunk, and safety features are strong attractions, but the rear torsion axle remains a disadvantage compared to the Corolla, which has independent suspension.
And what about you? Do you believe that the Virtus Exclusive 2025 offers better cost-benefit or do you still prefer to invest in mid-size sedans like Corolla and Sentra? Leave your opinion in the comments—we want to hear from those who have already driven or are considering buying the model.

Precisa melhorar o acabamento interno!!
