The Resumption of the Auction for the Project Secured New Billion-Dollar Investments from Oncorp for Its Implementation. The Natural Gas Regasification Terminal at the Port of Suape Already Has Partnerships with Shell and Termopernambuco for the Coming Years.
Following the suspension of the selection process by the National Agency for Waterway Transportation (Antaq), the project for the natural gas regasification terminal at the Port of Suape, in Pernambuco, will be realized. For this Tuesday, (12/20), Oncorp is planning an investment of R$ 2 billion to be applied to the venture, thus ensuring its completion in the coming years. The natural gas terminal already has planned partnerships and will be essential for the growth of the Pernambuco hub for the product.
Project for the Natural Gas Regasification Terminal at the Port of Suape Will Finally Be Realized, with Billion-Dollar Investments from Oncorp for Completion of the Plant
The new directions for the fuel market at the Port of Suape are quite optimistic, following the contracts between the state government and Oncorp for the resumption of the natural gas regasification terminal project at the Port of Suape.
The Governor of Pernambuco, Paulo Câmara, will announce in the coming days the expected timeline for the start of the works for the new venture in the region, but it is certain that the project will move forward.

Oncorp is committing to a total investment of R$ 2 billion for the completion of the regasification terminal, as this is an essential venture for the future of the fuel market in the state.
This is a long-standing project for the state, but its selection process had been suspended by Antaq. Now, with the resumption of the autonomy of the Port of Suape, the venture can proceed.
The agency suspended the auction for the terminal even before the proposals were submitted, thus ensuring the halt of interest from those looking to invest in the natural gas regasification terminal.
With the resumption of the selection process, Oncorp submitted the only proposal that was qualified.
The company operates in energy generation and service provision in Brazil and Argentina, and intends to use the new terminal as a bridge for its growth in the national gas market.
Shell Will Be the First Supplier of the New Regasification Terminal at the Port Complex, While Termopernambuco Will Receive the Natural Gas from the Plant
Even in the early stages of its realization, after years of development, the project for the regasification terminal at the Port of Suape is already yielding results in the state.
Oncorp has already secured important partnerships for the future of the venture, such as the one established with the oil company Shell, which will be responsible for supplying natural gas to the plant.
Termopernambuco, a 498 MW thermoelectric plant, winner of last year’s capacity reserve auction, will be the first to receive the gas.
The R$ 2 billion investment from the company will be aimed at leasing an area of 33,375 meters for the construction of the project, in addition to other costs.
Among them, the main costs will be related to the waterway reception system, dock and mooring infrastructure, gas pipeline, and custody transfer station.
According to Oncorp and the Port of Suape, once completed, the new natural gas regasification terminal will be responsible for employing more than 240 people.
Thus, the project will contribute to the socioeconomic development of the entire state of Pernambuco in the coming years.
