In Light of The Threats of Disruption in Fuel Production, Petrobras Refinery Operations Are Being Closely Monitored This Week. Future President Jean Paul Prates Claims To Be Closely Following The Process.

After the attack on the National Congress that occurred last Sunday (01/08), Petrobras refinery operations are being monitored. There is a possible risk of disruption in fuel production by internal groups within the company, resulting in a state of alert at the oil company. The future president of the state-owned enterprise, Jean Paul Prates, is closely monitoring the process along with the company’s temporary administration.

Risk of Disruption in Fuel Production Leads to Monitoring of Petrobras Refinery Operations Across Brazil This Week

The Petrobras administration now needs to deal with threats from internal anti-democratic groups that threaten to halt the company’s refinery operations.

The risk was detected after terrorist attacks carried out by groups of supporters of former president Jair Bolsonaro in the capital Brasília on Sunday.

Therefore, the presidency of the state-owned enterprise has taken as a preventive measure the ongoing monitoring of operations at its refining assets to ensure there is no risk of supply shortages in the national market.

Petrobras reports that on Sunday, the 8th, the company’s refineries operated normally, but the issue has been monitored by the company’s management and state police authorities.

On various social media platforms, anti-democratic groups have been discussing a halt in operations, but the state-owned company emphasized that it is taking all necessary measures to ensure safety at the refineries.

Jean Paul Prates, nominated for the presidency of the company, says he is following the matter and has spoken with the Minister of Defense and Public Security, Flávio Dino, and with governors of some states.

He also highlighted that he has already spoken with the interim president of the state-owned enterprise, João Henrique Rittershaussen, who stated that he is mobilizing all security teams to maintain order and continue the production of fuels.

The refineries at risk of interruption in operations are: Reduc (Duque de Caxias, RJ), Replan (Paulínia, SP), Revap (São José dos Campos, SP), and Refap (Canoas, RS).

FUP and the Ministry of Mines and Energy Monitor Possible Risks of Disruption in Refinery Operations and Ensure Support to The State-Owned Company

In addition to the future president of the company, Jean Paul Prates, and the current interim president of Petrobras, other institutions are monitoring the current scenario.

Among them is the Unified Federation of Oil Workers (FUP), which expressed its concern about the short-term scenario of the national fuel market and possible risks of supply shortages.

“These possible acts can endanger Petrobras’s assets, the physical integrity of workers at these units as well as the surrounding areas, and compromise the supply of fuels to the population,” emphasized the federation.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Mines and Energy is mobilizing to ensure safety in national supply.

The current minister stated that “he guarantees the national supply of fuels and normal functioning of refineries, terminals, and distribution bases. Monitoring and government coordination ensure supply.”

Thus, with the coordination of organizations and Senator Jean Paul Prates, the refineries have their operations normalized and are expected to continue following this standard over the next few days.

Now, it remains for the Petrobras administration to take preventive measures to avoid possible internal problems during the course of this week.
