Understanding Uber’s Vehicle Requirements in Brazil for 2025
Before choosing your car, it’s vital to know Uber’s requirements. The UberX, Uber Comfort, and Uber Black categories have specific requirements. UberX is the most basic. Uber Comfort requires newer models (e.g., manufactured from 2015, but variable), and the driver must have a good rating and a minimum number of trips. Uber Black is the premium category, limited to sedans/SUVs, typically black or dark-colored, with leather seats and a newer year of manufacture (e.g., from 2016-2018, depending on the city). Always check Uber’s rules for your specific city as they may change.
The 7 Best Used Cars for Driving Uber
We present an analysis of popular and well-rated models for working with Uber, considering manufacturing years between 2019 and 2022 as a reference for the used market.
1. Chevrolet Onix Plus (Sedan)
This sales champion stands out for its fuel economy, especially in turbo versions, good interior space, and a trunk of 469 liters. It has high liquidity. Pay attention to the maintenance of the oil-bathed belt in turbo engines and possible recalls. It is a popular and smart choice for Uber Comfort.
2. Hyundai HB20S (Sedan)

With a modern design and good fuel efficiency, the HB20S and its 475-liter trunk are attractive. However, reports about the cost of some parts and chronic issues (air conditioning, catalytic converter) require caution during inspection. The sedan version is accepted in Uber Comfort; the HB20 hatch has been removed from the Comfort list for 2025.
3. Renault Logan
The Logan is unbeatable in interior space and trunk capacity (510 liters). Its maintenance is generally considered affordable, and its mechanics are robust. The interior finish is simple. It is an excellent option for those prioritizing space and functionality in Uber Comfort.
4. Fiat Argo (Hatch)
Offers a modern design, good technology features, and interior comfort. Its trunk of 300 liters may be a limiter for some rides. Reports from owners regarding warranty issues, multimedia system, and steering box should be considered. It is accepted in Uber Comfort.
5. Volkswagen Voyage
A traditional sedan with reliable mechanics and accessible maintenance. It has a good trunk of 480 liters and good liquidity. The design is more conservative, and the consumption of the 1.6 engine may not be class-leading. Suitable for Uber Comfort.
6. Nissan Versa (including V-Drive)
Noted for its excellent interior space and generous trunk (about 482 liters), the Versa provides great comfort for passengers. Fuel efficiency is reasonable. Points of attention include possible interior noises and a depreciation slightly higher than some competitors. It is eligible for Uber Comfort.
7. Toyota Etios Sedan
The main virtue is the legendary mechanical reliability of Toyota, combined with very low maintenance costs. Its trunk is huge, with 562 liters. The design is simple, and the central instrument panel may not appeal to everyone. It is a pragmatic and durable choice for Uber Comfort.
Options That Are Also Worth Considering
Other used models deserve consideration:
- Volkswagen Virtus: Offers great interior space, a trunk of 521 liters, and modern technology. The 1.0 TSI engine is efficient. Accepted in Uber Comfort.
- Fiat Grand Siena: Known for its good space and a trunk of 520 liters, with low acquisition cost. The 1.0 and 1.4 engines are economical. Pay attention to issues like leaks and suspension problems. Accepted in Uber Comfort.
- Toyota Corolla: Ideal for those seeking higher categories like Uber Black (if it meets the color and leather seat criteria) or a more sophisticated Uber Comfort. A synonym for durability, but with higher acquisition and maintenance costs.
Crucial Factors for Driver Success Beyond the Vehicle
Choosing the car is vital, but other factors are important. Car insurance is indispensable; look for policies specific to app drivers, considering coverages like loss of earnings. Renting cars for Uber can be an alternative to the initial investment, but requires careful analysis of fixed costs versus the benefits of vehicle ownership.
Keeping the car well-maintained with rigorous preventive maintenance is essential. The cleanliness and hygiene of the vehicle directly impact passenger ratings. Adopting economical driving and strategically planning trips also optimizes profitability.
The Best Car for Your Journey as an Uber Driver
Selecting one of the Best Used Cars for Driving Uber is a decision that should align economy, reliability, comfort, and platform requirements with your profile and budget. Models such as Onix Plus, HB20S, Logan, and Etios Sedan often stand out for their balanced attributes in the Comfort category.
Remember: the “best” choice is individual. Consider the criteria that matter most to you – whether it’s fuel economy, low maintenance costs, space for luggage, or eligibility for a specific category. Conduct thorough market research, test drive vehicles, and crucially, submit the chosen used vehicle to a thorough mechanical inspection before closing the deal.
