Se alguém ainda tinha dúvida de que o conflito na Ucrânia está mexendo com toda a estrutura militar global, aí está mais uma prova. Não é só no Ártico que a OTAN está de olho – as fronteiras orientais também estão em alerta máximo.

Two TU-95 Bear H Bombers, Accompanied by Flanker-D Fighters, Were Sighted Near NATO Airspace in the Far North, Forcing Norway to Mobilize Its F-35 Jets in a Quick Response to Avoid a Possible Air Violation.

The tension between NATO and Russia shows no signs of easing. In yet another episode that raised the alert, two Russian TU-95 Bear H bombers, accompanied by Flanker-D fighters, were sighted near the airspace of the alliance. The response? Norway wasted no time and dispatched its F-35 jets to monitor the movement and avoid any violations.

The Russian Incursion and NATO’s Response

The Flanker-D is a highly agile and powerful Russian fighter jet, designed for intense aerial combat and bomber defense. It can reach high speeds, has great flight autonomy, and is equipped with long-range missiles.

The TU-95 Bear H bombers are well-known to NATO. These giants of the sky, designed for long-range strategic attacks, do not fly alone – and that’s where the Flanker-D fighters come in, providing protection against any hostile interception attempts.

But NATO does not take this lightly. As soon as the radar detected the movement, Norway reacted immediately. The F-35 jets were deployed in record time, and Norwegian pilots sprang into action, closely monitoring every move of the Russian aircraft. The goal was clear: prevent any invasion and make it clear that the alliance is always watching.

Air Policing

If there’s one thing NATO takes seriously, it’s the defense of airspace. And that’s where the Air Policing mission comes in, a readiness scheme that ensures any suspicious movement receives an immediate response.

Major General Øivind Gunnerud of the Royal Norwegian Air Force highlighted that this readiness makes all the difference. According to him, the ability to react quickly not only protects Norway’s airspace but also strengthens the entire alliance, ensuring that no one takes advantage of any gaps.

And let’s face it: in the current scenario, where any slip can become a giant problem, being prepared is essential.

Rising Tension in the Arctic

The Arctic has been seen as a peaceful region, but that is changing – and fast. Amid disputes over shipping routes, resource exploration, and, of course, military presence, the landscape has turned into a true silent war board.

Russia does not hide its interest in the region. With its increasing presence in the Far North, NATO sees the need to bolster its defenses. As highlighted by the Public Relations Office of the Allied Air Command of the alliance, the situation demands well-thought-out strategies, as any misstep could completely shift the balance of power in the area.

The message is clear: NATO does not intend to give up any ground, and Moscow continues to test the limits.
