With 22 thousand tons of steel, a height nearly three times greater than the Eiffel Tower, and a cost of R$ 1.6 billion, China is building the highest bridge on the planet over a colossal canyon, reducing a crossing time of over 2 hours to just over 2 minutes.
This country, one of the largest economies in the world and known as a center of innovation, is home to major companies in sectors such as automotive, electronics, and pharmaceuticals.
Japan is also characterized by being highly urbanized and densely populated, showcasing remarkable advancements in health, nutrition, and sustainability over the past few decades.
Its educational system is considered one of the best globally, with continuous investments in quality, innovation, and digital literacy from childhood.
IQ Ranking Methodology
The IQ classification mentioned in the survey is based on the study “The Intelligence of Nations,” published in 2019.
Despite some criticisms, the work introduces an innovative methodology that estimates the average IQ of 113 countries, using data from international educational assessment tests.
The author, Richard Lynn, and co-author David Becker converted educational exam scores into national IQ estimates, utilizing broad and representative samples.
The research updates IQ estimates for various countries and reveals significant changes compared to previous studies.

For example, India’s IQ dropped from 82.2 to 76.24, while Finland’s increased slightly from 100.9 to 101.2. This significant decline in India’s average score can be attributed to factors such as political instability and challenges in education that affect cognitive development.
Nations like Greece, Turkey, and Romania showed modest declines, while the United States maintained a stable IQ around 97.43, slightly below the average of many Western European countries, which is around 100.
10 Smartest Countries In The World
According to the survey, here is the list of the ten smartest countries in the world:
- Japan – 106.48
- Taiwan – 106.47
- Singapore – 105.89
- Hong Kong – 105.37
- China – 104.1
- South Korea – 102.35
- Belarus – 101.6
- Finland – 101.2
- Liechtenstein – 101.07
- Germany – 100.74
Where Does Brazil Appear On The List?
Brazil ranks 93rd in the ranking, with an average IQ of 83.38, reflecting persistent challenges in the country’s educational development.
According to the study, nations with the lowest IQs often face severe structural difficulties, such as lack of access to education, malnutrition, and political instability, factors that directly impact cognitive performance.
The countries with the lowest average IQ include Nepal (42.99), Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guatemala, Cape Verde, The Gambia, Nicaragua, Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire, and Ghana.
Among them, Nepal has the lowest average IQ score, at 42.99, a relevant figure that highlights the severity of the social and economic conditions faced by this nation.
Finally, it is important to emphasize that IQ is not the only way to measure intelligence. There are various criteria to identify the smartest countries, many of which do not only involve the average Intelligence Quotient.
Highlights include performance in academic tests, capacity for technological and scientific innovation, and even the number of Nobel Prizes won.
Additionally, emotional and social intelligence, which involves the ability to relate to and understand others, is equally important for the development of cohesive and productive societies.
