Panvel's new solar power plant was installed on the roof in the parking area of its administrative building, in Rio Grande do Sul

Last Tuesday, the Panvel pharmacy chain inaugurated a new solar power plant in the city of Eldorado do Sul, located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The company adopted the carport tactic to build a solar energy generation plant that fully covers the consumption of its headquarters and its distribution center. In this model, the panels form a kind of cover, which still protects people from the sun. 2.280 solar panels were installed on site, enough to guarantee an installed power of 1 megawatt. Taking advantage of the fact that the plant was installed in the parking lot, the company provided two charging points for electric cars. According to the company, this is the largest carport plant in the country.

By 2022, Panvel hopes to have four more photovoltaic plants. The goal is to have 100% of the operations, including the stores — today there are 477 points of sale, with a forecast for the opening of another 65 this year. The retailer belongs to the Dimed Group, which also operates in the medicine, beauty products and laboratory distribution sector. The group's retail revenue, last year, was 2,69 billion reais.

Investments in renewable energy

Panvel's new solar power plant, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, represents an investment of more than R$ 4 million, made by the company itself. The movement is part of Panvel's ESG policies, which have the promotion of clean energy as one of its main focuses. With another five photovoltaic plants already in operation, the planning includes the construction of six more next year, thus offsetting the consumption of 100% of the network's high street stores operating in the South Region and São Paulo.

The president of the Dimed Group, Julio Mottin Neto, said that they are taking another important step aimed at increasing Panvel's energy efficiency. In addition to collaborating to reduce pollution in the environment, they want to share positive experiences that favor the development of communities, impacting people's health and well-being, concluded the executive.

Udiaço and Sunning have entered into a partnership for the installation of one of the most impactful alternative energy production projects in recent times: a solar energy generation plant installed on the roof of Udiaço's headquarters, located next to the Rodoanel Mário Covas, in carapicuíba, in the western region of Greater São Paulo. There are more than 4.300 m2 of area that result in an average energy generation of more than 75.000 kWh per month.

The Udiaço solar power plant project was implemented during the pandemic and took about eight months to complete. A good part of the time was taken up with the licensing of Enel, which, due to the health crisis, had a reduced team and operating with restrictions. “Our average energy consumption is 85.887 kWh/month. With the photovoltaic roof, we seek to supply almost 90% of our consumption”, said Lucas Trevizan, marketing director at Udiaço. “Based on the expected monthly variations in generation, this index fluctuates, but with the implementation of the system, initial expectations are being exceeded”, he added.
