The Brazilian multinational WEG will supply a lot of equipment for Petrobras FPSOs that will be installed in the Búzios and Mero fields

WEG won a large contract with Petrobras, which will result in revenues of approximately R$ 160 million, the Brazilian multinational informed yesterday (30). The scope of the project is intended to supply equipment for FPSO-type platforms at Búzios V and Mero 2, in the pre-salt layer.

Petrobras and WEG - Equipment to be supplied within the scope of the contract

According to WEG, the project includes hundreds of inverters, low voltage motors, 60 medium voltage motors and 8 turbogenerators. The latter has the following specifications:

  • 4 equipment of 36 MW 3600 rpm
  • 4 equipment of 33 MW 1800 rpm

About FPSO Búzios V and Mero 2 platforms

Buzios V – According to Petrobras, the FPSO contracted with Modec will start operating in 2022, under the baptism name Almirante Barroso. The unit will have the capacity to process 150 barrels of oil daily.

Merry 2 – This platform will be built by SBM and will be called FPSO Sepetiba, processing 12 million cubic meters of gas and 180 thousand barrels of oil per day as well.
