The Company’s Goal Is To Ensure The Participation Of The Greatest Number Of Companies In The Bidding For The FPSO Of The Revitalization Project. Petrobras Plans To Charter The Vessel For 27 Years For Operations In The Albacora Field In The Campos Basin.

The oil company Petrobras announced the extension of the deadlines for submitting commercial proposals for the bidding of the FPSO at the Albacora Field. The revitalization project of the field located in the Campos Basin will now include new proposals for the state-owned company. There will be almost 5 more months for interested companies to submit their proposals for the bidding process.

Deadline For Submitting Proposals For The FPSO At The Albacora Field Is Delayed By Petrobras, With Completion Expected For July 3

Petrobras has been heavily investing in the revitalization project of the Albacora Field in the Campos Basin for several months now.

The company announced the bidding for the chartering of an FPSO platform in the area for a total of 27 years in September 2022.

With a final deadline expected on February 13, the state-owned company announced the extension of the deadline for submitting commercial proposals for the bidding. Now, the final submission date will be on July 3, as announced.

The bidding provides for the hiring of an FPSO capable of producing 120,000 b/d of oil and lifting, treating, and compressing 6 MMm³/d of natural gas in water depths of 670 m.

The revitalization of the Albacora Field, located in the Campos Basin, is one of the oil company’s major bets for the coming years in the national offshore market.

The new FPSO will replace the two production units currently operating in the area (P-25 and P-31). The expected start date for operations has not yet been disclosed, but Petrobras expects to begin in 2027.

Albacora Field Moved From Petrobras’ Divestment Portfolio To One Of The Most Potential Projects For The Coming Years

Petrobras’ strategic plan for 2023-2027 foresees investments of US$ 18 billion for the Campos Basin.

However, the company’s investments for the Albacora Field were not planned until last year.

The Albacora Field was in Petrobras’ divestment portfolio. The state-owned company had entered into negotiations with PetroRio to sell the asset, but the companies did not reach an agreement on the final transaction value.

Thus, the oil company’s strategy was to keep the field in its asset portfolio, then starting a revitalization project.

This way, it could take advantage of the high production potential with an FPSO in the Campos Basin area over the coming years.

The vessel will be a significant investment for the company, as it will have the capacity to produce 120,000 barrels per day and process 6 million cubic meters of gas per day.

Now, with the extension of the bidding deadlines for the FPSO of the Albacora Field, Petrobras hopes to secure even better proposals for the Campos Basin project.

Learn More About The Albacora Field

The Albacora Field is located about 110 km east of Cabo de São Tomé, on the north coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro, in the Campos Basin. The production from the field is collected through the P25 platforms, of the SS (Semi-Submersible) type, and P-31, of the FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) type. The oil flow network of the P-25 consists of a pipeline that connects P-25 to P-31.
