During last Tuesday (12/20), the state-owned company Petrobras completed the sale of its holdings in the Carmópolis Pole, located in the state of Sergipe, to the company Carmo Energy. The transaction was finalized after almost a year of process, initiated at the end of 2021, and marks a prosperous future for the area. This is because the new operator should revitalize production in the region, contributing to the generation of around 2,800 jobs in the area.

Sale Of The Carmópolis Pole To The Company Carmo Energy Is Finalized By Petrobras After Almost 1 Year Since The Beginning Of The Transaction

Petrobras reported last Tuesday the finalization of another important transaction for its business portfolio in Brazil.

This involves the sale of its entire holdings in a set of 11 concessions for onshore oil and gas production fields, with integrated facilities, located in the state of Sergipe, collectively referred to as the Carmópolis Pole, to the energy company Carmo Energy.

The final value of the sale of the oil and natural gas pole in the Sergipe region is US$ 1.1 billion. Of this amount, US$ 275 million was paid as a down payment, US$ 548 million was paid at the finalization of the sale, and US$ 275 million will be paid within 12 months.

The Carmópolis Pole is an important asset in the fuels sector for the Northeast region of Brazil. Its production during November 2022 reached 4,500 barrels of oil per day and 22,000 m³/day of gas.

Thus, Carmo Energy will be able to strongly expand its presence in the segment over the next few years.

According to Petrobras, the sale of the asset “is aligned with the portfolio management strategy and the improvement of the company’s capital allocation, aiming at maximizing value and greater return to society.”

Finally, in its statement, the state-owned company announced the payment of the 1st installment of remuneration to shareholders approved by its Board of Directors in a meeting held on November 3, 2022.

The gross amount currently corresponds to R$ 1.67445 per ordinary and preferred share in circulation, based on the end of November.

Reactivation Of Production In The Carmópolis Pole After The Sale Of The State-Owned Company To Carmo Energy Could Generate Over 2,800 Jobs In The Oil And Natural Gas Sector

After the completion of the sale of the Carmópolis Pole from Petrobras to Carmo Energy this Tuesday, the energy company is already authorized to start fuel production in the area.

Thus, Carmo Energy should immediately begin operations in the Sergipe region, with projected investments of 800 million dollars over the next 10 years in the area.

As a result, the reactivation of production in the region will ensure new growth prospects for the oil and gas sector in the state of Sergipe, with the collection of royalties for the state and municipalities.

Projections for the coming years suggest that the reactivation project will also open job market opportunities in the region, with around 2,800 jobs offered to residents.

The operation at the Carmópolis Pole includes 11 onshore fields and access to processing, flow, storage, and transportation infrastructure for oil and natural gas, as well as the Atalaia Pole, encompassing Tecarmo and the Bonsucesso-Atalaia pipeline.
