The delivery of the equipment will include the participation of the director of Institutional Relations and Sustainability, Roberto Furian Ardenghy, the director of Digital Transformation and Innovation, Nicolas Simone, the executive manager of Social Responsibility, Olinta Cardoso, the manager of Community Relations and Social Risks, Edelcio de Freitas, the mayor of Duque de Caxias, Washington Reis, and directors of the schools covered.
The equipment donated to the municipal and state schools of Duque de Caxias, in RJ, are computers that are no longer used by the company but have undergone maintenance and are in usable condition. “The initiative aims to expand the access of children and adolescents from public schools to new technologies, contributing to the reduction of inequality in education”, says the executive manager of Social Responsibility at Petrobras, Olinta Cardoso.
The executive also points out that in addition to donating computers to schools in Duque de Caxias, in RJ, Petrobras will invest in a digital empowerment project, with education actions for high school teenagers and support for Elementary School educators in the development of pedagogical techniques that use technology in the learning process. “We also intend to contribute to the productive inclusion in the job market of young people living near our operations.”
Petrobras initiatives with local development
According to the report, Petrobras claims that it has carried out a broad socio-environmental diagnosis of the communities located in the areas covered by its operations.
It was through dialogue in spaces such as the Community Committees formed by local leaders in Duque de Caxias that Petrobras became aware of the demands and identified the schools' need for digital inclusion initiatives both for children and young people and for teachers in these locations. .
“We are connected with the communities where we operate and, together with them, we seek social solutions that contribute to local development. While Petrobras has been accelerating its digital transformation, the company is also expanding this process to the communities where it operates based on the demands mapped by our community relations teams”, adds Olinta Cardoso.
