Prosafe Expands Presence in the Brazilian Market with Petrobras Support
The Safe Notos, a semi-submersible offshore support vessel, will continue to operate at Petrobras’s demand for four more years, as officially announced by Prosafe on its corporate website. The contract, valued at approximately US$ 204 million, comes into effect immediately after the current commitment ends, demonstrating the continuity of the relationship between the two companies.
With the capacity to accommodate up to 500 professionals, the Safe Notos is equipped with a dynamic positioning system (DP3), high-capacity crane, open deck, and a telescopic gangway, ensuring operational support even in adverse maritime conditions. According to Prosafe itself, the vessel has stood out for providing safe and efficient services, being one of the most valued by Petrobras in recent years.

Petrobras Strengthens Partnerships with Strategic Suppliers
According to Terje Askvig, CEO of Prosafe, the selection of Safe Notos by Petrobras was the result of a rigorous bidding, qualification, and negotiation process. The choice reinforces the state company’s confidence in vessels that have already been tested in Brazil, with a history of safe operation and high technical performance. The source Offshore Energy also highlights that the contract reflects the strengthening of the Brazilian offshore market, with more competitive charter rates compared to previous cycles.
It is important to note that the signing of the contract still depends on internal formalities at Petrobras, and that potential challenges from competitors are still possible until the process is finalized. Even so, Prosafe remains optimistic about the next steps, as it meets all technical requirements set by Petrobras and regulatory bodies.
Offshore Market in Brazil Remains Strong
The renewal of contracts with companies like Prosafe reinforces Petrobras’s interest in maintaining a qualified fleet of support vessels, essential for its operations in deep and ultra-deep waters. The scenario also indicates a resumption of continuous investment in the Brazilian offshore sector, signaling a more stable and predictable environment for international suppliers.
Prosafe, in turn, reaffirms its leadership position in providing flotel units in Brazil, a strategic niche where the company has been particularly distinguished by the performance of Safe Notos. According to an official statement from the company, the expectation is that this new phase will further consolidate its operations in Latin America.
