oil in Sergipe

New oil discoveries in the Sergipe – Alagoas Basin were confirmed by Petrobras, within the BM-SEAL-4 block.

The oil company notified new signs of oil. The company informs that the discovery took place in the Sergipe Basin, within the BM-SEAL-4 block, in a water depth of 2.647 meters, in well 3-BRSA-1368-SES. In June of this year, Petrobras made the biggest discovery in the region after the pre-salt layer.

The drilling of well 3-BRSA-1368-SES was carried out in June this year, using the Petrobras 10.000 rig operated by Transocean.

BM-SEAL-4 is one of four Petrobras blocks in Sergipe-Alagoas that are up for sale, alongside BM-SEAL-4A, BM-SEAL-10 and BM-SEAL-11.

The curiosity about this fact is due to the fact that the Brazilian oil company is the operator of the BM-SEAL-4 block and is selling a 35% slice of its stake in the area, which is 75%.

This is the sixth discovery made in the asset. The first, for gas, dates from May 2012; the second (oil), in December of the same year; the third (gas), from September 2014; the fourth (oil), in May 2015; and the fifth (gas and oil), in April this year.

Already in its third period, the minimum exploratory program (PEM) of BM-SEAL-4 foresees the drilling of three wells. The asset's Discovery Assessment Plan (PAD) expires in December 2020.
