In October and November, the average monthly gasoline production at Petrobras refineries increased by 17% compared to the second quarter, and diesel production grew by 8% in the same period.
In November, the utilization factor of the refineries closed at 87% of capacity, 12 percentage points above the second quarter. “Petrobras always seeks the most efficient use of its assets, and the processing level can fluctuate according to the availability of equipment, the cost-effectiveness of operations, and customer demand,” said the oil company in a statement.
Therefore, the processing level of the refineries is planned based on the availabilities and types of oil, the capacity of the refineries and logistical assets, as well as demand forecasts. Based on technical criteria, the system identifies the solution with the best economic outcome for the entire facility.
Petrobras Will Invest US$ 6.1 Billion In Refining Over The Next Five Years To Position The Company Among The Best Refineries In The World
Petrobras announced in its Strategic Plan 2022-2026 that it will invest US$ 6.1 billion in refining over the next five years. Projects will be implemented to position the company among the best refineries in the world in terms of efficiency and operational performance, with higher value-added products and lower carbon emissions.
One of the commitments, for example, is to increase production capacity, especially of high-quality derivatives such as S-10 diesel. The Strategic Plan includes three major expansion projects: the completion of the second unit (train) of the Abreu e Lima Refinery – Rnest, which will raise the production capacity of S-10 diesel by 95,000 barrels per day; the integration between the Duque de Caxias Refinery (Reduc) and GasLub Itaboraí, with an additional capacity of 93,000 barrels per day of S-10 diesel and aviation kerosene (QAV), with 12,000 barrels per day of higher quality lubricants; a new unit at Replan, along with adaptations at Reduc and Revap, with an additional capacity of 132,000 barrels per day of S-10 diesel across the three refineries.
