Petrobras said on Wednesday that Ruy Flaks Schneider has been appointed to the company’s board. The state-owned company added that Schneider’s appointment will be submitted for approval at Petrobras’ annual general meeting in 2020 on July 22, 2020.

He has accumulated vast experience, both as an executive and as a board member of large companies, including Xerox do Brasil, Banco Brascan de Investimento, Banco de Montreal-MontrealBank, Grupo Multiplan, and INB Indústrias Nucleares do Brasil.
Schneider also served as a member of the advisory board of the capital markets of the Central Bank, participating in the development of the external debt conversion program.
He is also the creator of the first multi-sponsored pension fund and introduced defined contribution funds in Brazil.
Regarding other experiences, Schneider served as an independent board member of Sonae Sierra Brasil, managing director of RENASCE – National Shopping Centers Network, and is the CEO of Schneider & Cia.
He holds a degree in industrial, mechanical, and production engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RIO), with postgraduate studies in engineering and economics at Stanford.
He is a professor at the Naval War College and the founding head of the industrial engineering department at the Polytechnic School of PUC-RIO.
