The announcement made by the president of Transpetro, Sérgio Bacci, during the Rio Pipeline conference this Tuesday (9), marks a new step for Petrobras towards energy transition. The Brazilian state-owned company is studying the purchase of a solar power plant to supply its logistics units in the state of Amazonas, particularly the terminal in Coari, located in the heart of the Amazon rainforest.

The initiative is aligned with the company’s environmental commitments and represents a strategy to reduce operational costs, decrease dependence on fossil fuels, and expand the use of renewable sources in its operations.

Petrobras Strategy: Solar Energy as a Sustainable Solution

The proposal to acquire a solar farm aims to replace the current diesel fuel supply model with a clean and sustainable alternative. According to Bacci, the project is being developed in conjunction with Petrobras’ energy transition and sustainability department, led by Angélica Laureano.
