The Petrobras project enables the flow and processing of 21 million m³/d of natural gas

Those who were waiting to see the Polo Gaslub (formerly Comperj) processing pre-salt natural gas will have to wait another two years. A Petrobras informed that it expects to start gas processing operations at the venture only in 2024.

Stay on top of the reasons for the postponement of operations

As already announced, in July Petrobrás terminated the contract with the Kerui-Método consortium, which was responsible for the work on Gaslub's Natural Gas Processing Unit (UPGN). Due to this, Petrobras had to postpone the start of the project's operation, which was previously scheduled for 2022.

Petrobras has already started hiring the company that will take over the UPGN works, as shown by Petronotícias. Regarding civil construction, the future chosen company will be responsible for supplying materials and carrying out all remaining Civil Construction, Assembly and Architecture services necessary for the implementation and perfect functioning of the Industrial Unit, including, but not limited to: Structures metallic; Architecture; Building installations; Hydraulic, sanitary and rainwater installations; Paving and street layout; between others.

The Route 3 Integrated Project, which includes the Natural Gas Processing Unit, is strategic for Petrobras, as it will enable the flow and processing of 21 million m³/d of natural gas produced in the pre-salt complex of Santos Basin and the increase in natural gas supply to the Brazilian market.

In addition, part of the values ​​generated by production and exploration return in the form of royalties to the Union, states and municipalities.
