Currently, the FPSO Carioc platform vessel is in the final stages of construction at Modec. The unit will be operated by the Japanese company and chartered for up to 21 years.
MODEC is responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction, mobilization, installation and operation of the FPSO, including topside processing equipment, as well as hull and marine systems. A MODEC group company, SOFEC, Inc. will design and supply the lashing system.
When completed, the FPSO “Carioca MV30” will have the capacity to process 180 barrels of crude oil per day (bpd) and 212 million cubic meters of gas per day. The unit's storage capacity is 1,4 million barrels of crude oil.
The FPSO will be deployed in the Sépia field, operated by Petrobras, located in the gigantic pre-salt region of the Santos Basin, around 250 kilometers off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in a water depth of approximately 2.200 meters.
The FPSO will be capable of processing 180.000 barrels of crude oil per day, 6 million m³/day of gas natural gas and has a storage capacity of 1.400.000 barrels of crude oil.
This is the 13th FPSO / FSO that MODEC will supply in Brazil, as well as MODEC's 6th FPSO in the "pre-salt" after FPSO Cidade de Angra dos Reis MV22, FPSO Cidade de São Paulo MV23, FPSO Cidade de Mangaratiba MV24, FPSO Cidade de Itaguaí MV26 and FPSO Cidade de Caraguatatuba MV27 which achieved First Oil Production on December 2016 XNUMX.
In the last update made by Petrobras on the progress of the work on the FPSO, the state-owned company said that the works were at more than 88% of physical progress. The ship should start operating next year. The project includes the interconnection of up to 15 wells to the platform
