The Investment And The Promised Jobs
The Campos Basin, one of Brazil’s main oil production hubs, will be Petrobras’ primary focus in the coming years.
The company plans to inject this billion-dollar amount into initiatives that include revitalizing wells, new exploration fronts, and the decommissioning of old platforms.
As announced, the project will generate approximately 25,000 new jobs by 2028, with opportunities for both experienced workers and those seeking their first job.
According to the City Hall of Macaé, the impact will not only be economic.
The city administration is working to ensure that these new positions are accessible to the local population, especially by relaxing the experience requirements.
“It is possible to ensure that this requirement is reversed, allowing many people to return to the job market and creating opportunities for young people looking for their first job,” said Mayor Welberth Rezende.
Strategic Plan For Macaé
Petrobras also aims to strengthen Macaé as Brazil’s main energy operations center.
Sylvia Maria Couto dos Anjos, executive director of exploration and production at the state-owned company, reinforced the company’s commitment to the city.
She emphasized that the Campos Basin will continue to be a strategic pillar in deep-water operations, ensuring the company’s competitiveness in the global market.
Alex Murteira, general manager of the Business Unit of the Campos Basin, commented on the promising future of the region: “We have a thriving present and a promising future. Together, we will write a new success story for the Campos Basin.”
Flexibility In Hiring
One of the most innovative aspects of this project is the opening of positions for workers without proven experience.
This strategy is a result of a partnership between Petrobras and the City Hall of Macaé, which seeks to align market demands with local professional qualifications.
The city hall has been promoting training courses specifically focused on the state-owned company’s demands, preparing thousands of residents for the new opportunities.
As disclosed by the City Hall of Macaé’s website, the goal is to ensure that local professionals fill most of the available positions.
This includes recent graduates from qualification courses who previously faced difficulties entering the job market due to lack of experience.
Celebrations And Reflections On The Future
The event that marked the 50th anniversary of the Campos Basin also served as a tribute to the pioneers of the oil industry in the region.
Among those highlighted was Alfeu Valença, former president of Petrobras, who received recognition for his contribution to the sector’s development.
Petrobras President Magda Chambriard emphasized the importance of innovation and research for the future of oil exploration in Brazil.
“We have a lot of work ahead, and certainly, with everyone’s collaboration, we will build a future of greater success for Petrobras, for the State, and for Brazil,” said Chambriard.
