Petrobras Macaé base will close

The decision took workers, unions and even Petrobras managers by surprise. The vacancy of the Novo Cavaleiros Building, in Macaé, should take place by December 2020

Petrobras will vacate the Edinc (New Cavaleiros Building), in Macaé, by December 2020. The information took everyone by surprise late this afternoon (11/07).
The fact was confirmed by the North Fluminense Petroleum Workers' Union (Sindipetro-NF), which verified the information with the Fund that owns the property, which claims to have received a letter from Petrobras formalizing its intention to discontinue its operations at the Corporate Macaé Building by the end of 2020.

The document received by the property manager in Macaé, on the 08th, also says that Petrobras will pay all contractual termination expenses and charges due up to the stipulated date.
Sindipetro-NF, through its coordinator, called all human resources managers in the region, who were unaware of the matter, but who were later able to confirm the discontinuity of operations at Edinc, with other managers from Petrobras itself.

The Union Coordinator also said that the fact is even more serious because it happens without the knowledge of the state managers themselves, which shows, according to him, a total lack of planning.

The Edinc

Today, around 1700 oil workers work at Edinc, who support the management of Petrobras' operations in the region, and the company has not officially commented on the matter.

What is known, unofficially, is that the Macaé employees will be gradually relocated to the Imbetiba and Parque de Tubos bases.

Sindipetro-NF showed total dissatisfaction with Petrobras' decision and expressed concern, since the fact is not new for the company, as Edisp (Petrobrás Headquarters Building in São Paulo) was also closed and at the time an HR manager declared that whoever was “left over” would be fired.

The Union will put the matter on the agenda during the Claims Campaign assembly scheduled for Edinc, next Tuesday, 16th, at 13 pm.
