Peugeot 208 GT 2018: Powerful, Well-Equipped, and Attractively Priced. The Compact Sports Model from Peugeot Combines Performance, Features, and Competitive Market Value in Brazil.

The Peugeot 208 GT 2018 is one of those rare cases in the market: it delivers real power, a good list of features, and can still be found at an attractive price in the used car market. Known as the “pocket rocket,” the French hatch surprises with performance worthy of larger sports cars, combined with a discreet look and quality finish.

According to Tabela Fipe, the average value of the model is around R$ 71 thousand, making it an interesting option for those looking for a fun car to drive without paying exorbitant prices. Additionally, original units can still be found, allowing the buyer to customize the car to their taste.

Performance Worthy of a Sports Car

Peugeot 208 GT 2018 delivers 173 hp, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 s and costs around R$ 71 thousand

The Peugeot 208 GT 2018 is equipped with a 1.6 THP turbo engine, developed in partnership with BMW, which delivers 173 hp with ethanol and 166 hp with gasoline, along with 24.5 kgfm of torque at just 1,450 rpm. This setup guarantees acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds and a top speed of 222 km/h, according to the manufacturer.

The traction is front-wheel drive, with a six-speed manual transmission and a weight of less than 1,200 kg, which contributes to agility. The GT’s suspension comes from the factory stiffer than that of the conventional versions, ensuring greater stability in curves. With minor modifications, such as reinforcement in the exhaust and mapping adjustments, it is possible to increase the power to 180 hp at the wheels and torque to 35 kgfm, making the car even more exciting.

Fuel Economy and Maintenance

According to data from Inmetro, the model achieves 8.2 km/l in the city with ethanol and 12 km/l with gasoline; on the highway, the numbers improve to 9.5 km/l (ethanol) and 13.8 km/l (gasoline). In practice, it’s common for fuel consumption to be slightly higher due to the sporty profile of those who buy the car.

Points of attention include the original plastic intake, which can crack, and the relief valve, also made of plastic, which may require replacement, especially in modified cars. Other common reports include issues with the air conditioning and minor noises from the fixed panoramic roof. Despite this, parts and maintenance are on par with other imported sporty hatchbacks from the same era.

Features and Finish

The Peugeot 208 GT 2018 stands out for its complete package: 17-inch wheels, projector headlights with daytime running lights, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone digital air conditioning, a multimedia center with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (via cable), and sporty seats in leather and fabric.

The instrument panel follows Peugeot’s i-Cockpit concept, with the speedometer positioned above the steering wheel for better visibility. The steering wheel is compact and leather-wrapped, with a flat base and exclusive details of the GT version. Interior space is limited, especially in the back seat, and the trunk has only 285 liters.

Is It Worth Buying a Peugeot 208 GT 2018?

For those looking for an accessible, fun, and well-equipped sporty hatch, the Peugeot 208 GT 2018 is a solid choice. Its combination of turbo engine, manual transmission, well-crafted finish, and competitive market value places it among the best options in the used segment.

It is still possible to find well-preserved units, sometimes even below the Fipe value, allowing for customization for those who want to extract more performance. However, it is important to pay attention to preventive maintenance points and look for examples with a reliable history.

And you, would you have a Peugeot 208 GT 2018 in your garage? Do you think it is still a good buy in the current market? Share your thoughts in the comments and share your experience with the model.
