Man Installs BYD Battery at Home to Store Energy Generated by Solar Panels and Surprises by Reusing a Component with 99% Health.

A resident of Piauí surprised everyone by showing what he did with a battery from a damaged electric car: he created a home system capable of storing solar energy and keeping his house running without connection to the power grid.

The person behind the innovation is Tibúrcio Frota, a developer who presented the project in a video published by TecMundo on YouTube.

The system, which was implemented in his residence in Piauí, has been functioning since 2024, through the adaptation of a BYD battery, transformed into an off-grid solution.

The invention caught attention because it reduces costs, guarantees autonomy of up to 14 hours, and shows a sustainable alternative for reusing automotive components.

The initiative stands out because it demonstrates that a man installs a BYD battery at home to store energy generated by solar panels not only to save money but also to reduce his dependence on the public grid.

Thus, the project gained relevance by combining technology, sustainability, and creativity.

Reuse of BYD Battery Becomes Solar Storage Solution

Tibúrcio found the battery from a BYD electric vehicle that would be discarded after an accident.

Despite the damage to the car, the piece was about 99% healthy, a rare condition for batteries that have been used on the streets.

Capitalizing on the component’s potential, he decided to create an energy system capable of operating completely outside of the vehicle.

According to him, the goal was to transform an item with high technological value into a practical solution for everyday use.

Thus, the man installs a BYD battery at home to store energy generated by solar panels and shows how reuse can go far beyond traditional recycling.

How the Electric Car Battery Works in a Home System

For the system to work, Tibúrcio developed his own electronic module. The equipment was created to “communicate” with the internal circuits of the BYD battery, simulating that it was still installed in the original car.

“This module ‘talks’ directly to the internal system of the component, making it understand that it is still connected to the BYD vehicle,” explains the developer in the video.

With this, all native management remains active. The system monitors temperature, controls voltage, and interrupts operation in case of risk just as it would inside the car.

The solution reinforces how a man installs a BYD battery at home to store energy generated by solar panels without losing safety or functionality, something essential for any electrical project.

Autonomy and Impact on Home Routine

The prototype offers up to 14 hours of autonomy, even using only part of the battery’s real capacity. This performance allows it to power appliances and maintain the basic functioning of the house throughout the night.

Additionally, the solution also charges another electric vehicle, demonstrating the potential for reusing automotive batteries for multiple purposes.

In this way, while many still discard damaged batteries, the project shows that a man installs a BYD battery at home to store energy generated by solar panels and can transform technological waste into energy autonomy.

An Unprecedented Idea in Brazil

Although several countries are researching new applications for electric car batteries, direct domestic use, as Tibúrcio did, is still unprecedented in Brazil.

The project paves the way for alternative sustainable solutions in regions with electrical instability or high energy costs.

The trend is that, with the advancement of solar energy and the popularization of electric vehicles, initiatives like this will become more common.

However, experts remind that adaptations of this kind require deep technical knowledge and attention to safety standards.
