With Historic Results, the 2025/2026 Harvest Plan Expands Rural Credit, Strengthens Cooperatives, and Stimulates Sustainable Growth of Brazilian Family Agriculture in the First Months of the Cycle

The strength of Brazilian family agriculture was evident in the first three months of the execution of the 2025/2026 Harvest Plan, which showed significant growth in all financing fronts, according to a report published.

Between July and September, there were 609 thousand operations registered, totaling R$ 24.6 billion contracted, an increase of 24% compared to the same period of the previous harvest.

The performance reflects the efforts of thousands of rural families and the efficiency of public policies aimed at sustainable production and income generation in the countryside.

The highlight of the period was the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture (Pronaf), which made significant advances in various modalities.

Pronaf A and A/C, intended for land reform settlers, beneficiaries of land credit, and traditional communities, registered an expansion of 348% in the number of operations and 460.5% in contracted values.

Pronaf B grew by 61.8% in contracts and 49.3% in resources, showing greater adherence among small producers in the initial phase of structuring.

Sustainable Rural Credit and Technological Innovation in the 2025/2026 Harvest Plan

Programs such as Pronaf Bioeconomy and Pronaf Agroindustry demonstrated the importance of technological innovation in family agriculture.

The former had a 41% increase in funding for sustainable practices, while the latter, aimed at cooperatives, recorded a 245.2% increase in the volume of resources.

Pronaf Floresta doubled its results, with over 111% growth in operations and 114% in values, reinforcing the agroecological transition.

Pronaf Mulher advanced 84.8% in contracts and 96.9% in financed amounts, and Pronaf Semiárido rose 54.3% in operations and 70.6% in disbursed credit.

Rural youth also gained space: Pronaf Jovem had an unprecedented expansion of 1,626% in contracted values.

Financing of Agricultural Machinery and Growth of the Mais Alimentos Program

The Mais Alimentos Program, part of the 2025/2026 Harvest Plan, recorded 115.3 thousand operations and R$ 5.3 billion in credit, with increases of 39% and 5.6%, respectively.

The program stood out for supporting agricultural mechanization and modernization of the countryside. The financed items showed remarkable growth:

  • Boats: +311% in operations and +273% in values.
  • Agroindustries: +72% in operations and +129% in resources.
  • Protected Cultivation (greenhouses): +207% in operations and +74% in values.
  • Tractors: +3.5% in operations and +1.5% in values.

These numbers highlight the consolidation of family agriculture as a strategic economic agent, boosting productivity and regional development.

Food Production, Food Security, and Regional Expansion of the 2025/2026 Harvest Plan

The production of basic food and animal protein also strengthened. Manioc recorded a 118% increase in operations and 53% in contracted values, followed by vegetables (+16%) and fruits (+6.7%).

In fishing and aquaculture, the number of contracts grew by 208%, totaling 16,747 operations and R$ 281 million financed.

Poultry farming had a 61.6% increase in values, rising from R$ 359.9 million to R$ 581.8 million.

In the Amazon Biome, the volume of contracts rose 42.4%, with a highlight on açaí, which recorded 235% more operations and 270% more values financed, reaching R$ 74 million.

Launched in July by the Federal Government, the 2025/2026 Harvest Plan allocated record resources to rural credit, prioritizing agroecology, innovation, and strengthening cooperatives.

The results from the first quarter confirm the advance of productive inclusion for women, youth, and traditional peoples, consolidating family agriculture as the basis for food security and sustainable development in Brazil.
