A Bridge Worth R$ 109 Million Promises to Revolutionize Marabá. With an Expected Opening in December, It Will Alleviate Traffic and Improve the Economy, Benefiting 157,000 Vehicles. The Largest Urban Mobility Project in the Region is About to Change the Daily Life of Residents!

A historical milestone for the municipality of Marabá is about to be delivered.

A construction that cost more than R$ 100 million promises to transform the daily lives of over 150,000 drivers who face long traffic jams daily on one of the busiest highways in Brazil.

But what makes this project so significant? The surprising details of this construction and the benefits it will bring to the economy and quality of life in the region will be revealed next.

Third Bridge Over the Itacaiúnas River Enters the Final Stretch

The third bridge over the Itacaiúnas River, located in the heart of Marabá, in Pará, is in its final phase.

With an expected delivery in the second half of December, the project promises to be a game changer in the urban mobility of the city.

According to the official schedule, the final details are being finalized, including painting, concreting of one of the spans, urbanization of access roads, and the installation of lighting poles.

This bridge, with a length of 524 meters and a width of 16 meters, was designed to connect the neighborhoods Cidade Nova and Nova Marabá, alleviating traffic on the BR-230 Highway, the famous Transamazônica.

An architectural highlight of the construction is its cable-stayed structure, which extends 240 meters, bringing modernity and functionality to the project.

Who Is Behind the Project?

The project is a result of a partnership between the Government of Pará, through the State Department of Infrastructure and Logistics (Seinfra), and the City Hall of Marabá.

The total investment amounts to R$ 109 million, of which R$ 50 million was provided by the state government.

The consortium responsible for executing the work, formed by the companies Gaspar and ArteLeste Construções, is focusing efforts to finish the finishing touches with excellence.

According to Saulo Almeida, civil engineer and supervisor from the City Hall of Marabá, the work is on schedule and will fully meet the population’s expectations.

Benefits for Mobility and Economy

The new bridge will serve more than 157,000 vehicles, according to a recent survey from the Ministry of Transport. This number includes cars, trucks, and motorcycles that cross the region daily.

In addition to alleviating traffic, the bridge will have positive impacts on the local economy.

Drivers will see reductions in operational costs and travel time, making the transportation of people and goods faster and more efficient.

Adler Silveira, Secretary of State for Infrastructure and Logistics, highlighted the impact of this project in the regional context:

“With this new bridge, we are eliminating historical bottlenecks on the Transamazônica and promoting more safety and speed for those traveling in Marabá. It is a project that reinforces the government’s commitment to the integration and development of Pará.”

Another relevant statement came from João Chamon Neto, Regional Secretary of Government for the South and Southeast of Pará.

He stated that the completion of the bridge will be “a milestone for the municipality and for the entire region”, highlighting the importance of the partnership between the state government and the City Hall of Marabá.

Residents’ Opinions

For those living in Marabá, the expectation is high. Bruno da Silveira, a resident of the city, shared his thoughts on the new infrastructure:

“Today we lose a lot of time in traffic, especially crossing the city. This bridge will not only save time and fuel, but it will also reduce the stress of traffic jams. It is a great achievement for all of us.”

The Future of the Region After the Opening

The third bridge over the Itacaiúnas River is not just an infrastructure project. It symbolizes a new chapter for urban mobility and the economy of Marabá and its region.

With the opening expected in December, the municipality will make a leap in quality of life and economic integration, strengthening its role as one of the major hubs in Pará.

Now that you know how this project will impact the lives of thousands of people, the question remains: how can this infrastructure transform not only traffic but also the economic development of an entire region?
