The Port of Imbituba in Santa Catarina Reached 4.7 Million Tons in 2025, Boosted Exports and Imports, Expanded Cabotage, Besides Strengthening National Logistics and Consolidating Operations

The Port of Imbituba in Santa Catarina has been gaining attention in 2025. Over the past few months, the terminal recorded impressive figures that show how Santa Catarina’s logistics is gaining ground on the national stage, according to a report published.

With 216 ships docked by August, the complex reached 5.12 million tons handled, highlighting exports and imports that have sustained the regional economy.

This performance reinforces the role of the Port of Imbituba as a key point for maritime transport and for the integration with different productive sectors.

The growing movement of cargo, investments in infrastructure, and projects aimed at modernization indicate that the region is on track to consolidate as a strategic logistics hub.

In this scenario, companies, workers, and the city itself have reaped significant results in terms of opportunities, urban development, and income generation.

Exports and Leadership in Foreign Trade

The Port of Imbituba stood out in 2025 with exports totaling 1.97 million tons. This performance was driven by shipments of calcined coal, non-calcined coal, and corn gluten feed, products that hold significant weight in Santa Catarina’s trade agenda.

This movement has allowed companies in the agricultural sector and industry to expand their presence in international markets.

The variety of exported cargo shows that the Port of Imbituba does not rely on just one sector to achieve good results.

Diversification is one of the factors that strengthen the terminal’s competitiveness, ensuring stability in the face of economic fluctuations.

For those who follow foreign trade, these numbers reinforce the importance of Santa Catarina as a gateway for products reaching various destinations around the world.

Imports and Industrial Supply

If the export numbers were impressive, the results in imports were even more consistent.

The Port of Imbituba recorded 2.14 million tons unloaded by August 2025. Among the inputs that contributed the most are bituminous coal, salt, and industrial use products.

These items supply strategic sectors of the economy, ensuring raw materials for industries that depend on a continuous flow of supplies.

The Port of Imbituba has become essential for supplying companies that find in the Santa Catarina terminal a safe and efficient alternative.

The proximity to industrial hubs and the agility in operations strengthen the port’s role as a link between global markets and local production chains.

This movement ensures greater predictability in transportation and reduces bottlenecks that could affect production.

Cabotage and Logistics Connection

Another highlight in 2025 was cabotage. The Port of Imbituba handled 451.2 thousand tons shipped and more than 120 thousand tons unloaded.

These numbers confirm the potential of maritime transport between Brazilian ports, an alternative that is gaining ground amidst the need to enhance logistical integration in the country.

Cabotage allows cargo to be transported with less environmental impact and greater operational efficiency.

In the case of the Port of Imbituba, this transport model reinforces the connection between different regions of Brazil, ensuring competitiveness for companies that need to distribute their products on a large scale.

In addition, the port also showed positive results in transshipment, with 47.2 thousand tons shipped and 39 thousand tons unloaded by August, consolidating its position as a strategic option for different types of operations.

Containers, Investments, and Promising Future

One of the most visible advances in 2025 was the growth in container handling at the Port of Imbituba.

Over 890 thousand tons have already been handled in this segment, a record that reinforces the terminal’s potential for higher value-added cargo.

This performance demonstrates how the port is adapting to the demands of markets that require more flexibility and quality in transportation.

According to the Secretary of Ports, Airports, and Railways of Santa Catarina, the results are a direct result of planning and investments.

The president of SCPAR Porto de Imbituba highlighted that dredging, wharf expansion, and process digitization are among the priorities planned for 2025.

These improvements are expected to open new business fronts and increase the port’s attractiveness to clients from different sectors.

Another important point is the economic and social impact. The increase in handling generates direct and indirect jobs, strengthens the service sector, and boosts projects that bring the port closer to the city of Imbituba.

This integration between urban development and port operations shows that logistics can align with sustainable growth.

With a total of 5.12 million tons by August and the expectation of exceeding 7 million by the end of 2025, the Port of Imbituba confirms its relevance in the national scenario.

By combining diversified exports, consistent imports, expanding cabotage, and growth in containers, the terminal positions itself as logistical leadership in Santa Catarina.
