In Order to Build a Transport Highway in Macaé That Will Connect the Tempor to BR – 101, the Long-Awaited Port Seems to Finally Be Coming to Life
The mayor of Macaé, Dr. Aluízio, expropriated an area of 6,448,378.97 square meters that will serve for the construction of the Transport Highway that will connect the area of the Port Terminal of Macaé (Tepor), in São José do Barreto, to RJ-168, linking to the central area of the municipality and BR-101. The decree establishes the area as public utility and was published in the Official Gazette of the municipality this Wednesday (2).
The Transport Highway will be about 19 kilometers long and is a requirement of the State Institute of Environment (Inea), the agency responsible for granting the license for the Port Terminal (Tepor) construction.

Billions of barrels on the equatorial margin could lead Amapá to double its oil production in Brazil — the state aims to enter the route of companies in the Campos Basin, attract investments, and boost jobs and businesses in the oil and gas sector.

– The Transport Highway is the first step toward the construction of the port and is already part of the Tepor project, as required by Inea. To construct the island (berthing spaces) of 400,000 square meters, a large amount of stone will be needed: equivalent to two years just for transporting this material. The highway will have a ‘dedicated link’ during the port’s construction. In other words, the traffic will only be used for this purpose during this period – explained the Secretary of Economic Development, Labor, and Income of Macaé, Gustavo Wagner, adding that the work is expected to last about four years.
The Transport Highway will cost R$ 100 million, including four overpasses if the need for construction is signaled by Inea. The work will be carried out by EBTE, the company responsible for the port project.
– The work on the Transport Highway is essential for the installation of the port. What depends on the municipal government’s effort is done. Now, in early June, the Environmental Impact Study and the Environmental Impact Report (EIA/Rima) will be delivered to Inea by the company. From that point on, the 120-day period for the state agency’s opinion and license release will begin, in addition to a new public hearing – added Gustavo Wagner.
Tepor – The onshore area will cover a total of up to 6,000,000 m2 and will have storage yards and bonded warehouses. Included in its retro area: Oil Storage Terminal, with a storage capacity of 4.5 million barrels; Fuel Storage Terminal, with a storage capacity of 420,000 m3; Natural Gas Processing Plant (“UPGN”), with a processing capacity of 60 million m3/day. The port will have two offshore terminals. Source: Economy and Business
