The State University of Maringá (UEM), through its Distance Education Center (Nead-UEM), has announced a new edital for the third edition of free online courses in Specialized Educational Assistance (AEE). The Online Graduate Program is funded by the Open University of Brazil (UAB) system, with no registration fees or tuition.

In total, the State University has 650 slots, distributed among 28 Face-to-Face Support Poles in different regions of Paraná. In these poles, students of the free online courses will participate in in-person meetings and scheduled activities, while classes will be conducted online.
Those interested in the Free Online Graduate Courses must be graduates of a program recognized by the MEC (preferably with a teaching degree), teachers or professionals actively working in public education networks, teaching in regular classrooms or multifunctional resource rooms.

If the undergraduate diploma has not yet been issued, the candidate must have, at the time of registration, the Course Completion Certificate, or the Declaration from the Higher Education Institution they graduated from, stating that they have completed their course and are awaiting the issuance and registration of their diploma.
It is important to mention that this Free Online Graduate Course aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the methodologies, tools, and resources necessary for effective and inclusive educational assistance, promoting the holistic development of students in an adaptive and welcoming educational environment. Moreover, the course offered by the Department of Theory and Practice of Education (DTP/UEM) aims to train Basic Education teachers to work in multifunctional resource rooms.
Learn How to Enroll in the Free Online Courses at the State University
Enrollment for the Free Online Graduate Program started on July 1st and must be completed by July 10th through the State University of Maringá’s website. After the registration validation process, the final results will be announced on August 5th, with enrollment deadlines until the 14th of the same month. The course lasts for 18 months, scheduled to start on August 26th, totaling 360 class hours. All information regarding deadlines, documentation, and stages of the selection process is available in the edital.
The selection process referred to in this edital will take place in two stages, the first stage consisting of the online registration and document submission, as established in the edital. Candidates who do not present all the required documents will be eliminated.
The second stage for the free online courses at the State University will involve ranking candidates with validated registrations, by pole, in ascending order, considering the registration code found on each candidate’s registration form.

According to Professor Fabiane Freire França, director of Nead-UEM, the offering of specialization in Specialized Educational Assistance (AEE) in the distance learning format enhances continuous education and democratizes access to quality education in the state.
Professor Rosângela Célia Faustino, coordinator of the course, emphasized that the trained teachers will assist students with disabilities, global developmental disorders, and high abilities/giftedness, promoting inclusion and diversity in schools.
This graduate program aims to integrate the experiences faced by teachers in the school daily life with specific AEE content, providing excellent training for the target audience.
