The price of the fuel per liter decreased by 2.79% and reached R$ 5.501 in February, the second lowest average price in Brazil, behind only the Midwest. But not everything is good news, and, even with stability and a decrease of 0.03%, the gasoline price in the region closed at R$ 6.952, once again the highest average price in the country.

Last Month, Rio de Janeiro Reported the Highest Average Price for Gasoline in the Entire Country, with Values Reaching R$ 7.257, In Addition to Leading the Southeast with the Highest Ethanol Price

Further analysis at the national level showed that São Paulo stood out during the period with the lowest average for ethanol and also with the largest price reduction for the fuel (5.04%), dropping from R$ 4.942 to R$ 4.693. In comparison among the four Southeast states, São Paulo closed the first days of February with the lowest averages for other fuels. The price of gasoline in the state decreased by 0.06%, dropping from R$ 6.428 in January to R$ 6.424 in February. Meanwhile, common diesel increased by 1.84%, and S-10 rose by 1.49%, closing the period with averages of R$ 5.585 and R$ 5.668, respectively.

As in the previous month, Rio de Janeiro reported the highest average price for gasoline in the entire country, with values reaching up to R$ 7.257, a decrease of 0.23%. In addition to closing with the highest average gasoline price nationally, Rio de Janeiro also led in the highest averages in the Southeast for both gasoline and ethanol. With a decrease of 2.07%, ethanol at gas stations in Rio de Janeiro closed at R$ 6.098.

Minas Gerais stood out in the survey with the highest averages for the liter of common diesel, which closed at R$ 5.759, an increase of 1.46% compared to January; and for S-10, which closed at R$ 5.841, an increase of 1.85%.

Espírito Santo Stood Out in IPTL of February with the Highest Increases in the Region for Diesel. The Price of the Liter of Common Diesel Reached R$ 5.663!

Espírito Santo was highlighted in the IPTL of February with the highest increases in the region for diesel. The price of the liter of common diesel rose by 2.41%, from R$ 5.530 to R$ 5.663; and S-10 saw an increase of 2.04%, rising from R$ 5.629 to R$ 5.744. The gas stations in Espírito Santo were the only ones in the region that recorded an increase in gasoline prices, by 0.23%. The fuel rose from R$ 6.958 in January to R$ 6.974 in February.

“Following the national trend, the increase in diesel prices was also identified at the service stations in the Southeast, with increases exceeding 1.46%. We can already see the reflection at the pumps in the region as it authorized, at the end of last year, the direct sale of hydrated ethanol to the gas stations. According to the 70/30 relationship, ethanol is the most economical option for fueling in São Paulo and Minas Gerais. Meanwhile, gasoline is more advantageous for drivers in Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo. At the end of January, ethanol appeared as a more favorable option for the entire region, according to the Ticket Log Price Index,” points out Douglas Pina, Head of Urban Market at Edenred Brasil.

The IPTL is a fuel price index based on refueling carried out at the 21 thousand accredited Ticket Log gas stations, which is highly reliable due to the number of vehicles managed by the brand: 1 million in total, with an average of eight transactions per second. Ticket Log, a fleet management and mobility solutions brand of Edenred Brasil, has over 30 years of experience and adapts to customers’ needs, offering modern and innovative solutions to simplify daily processes.
