With Million-Dollar Investment, Paraná Closes Partnership for the Construction of the First Nanofertilizer Factory in Brazil.
Governor Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior participated, on February 21, in Campina Grande do Sul, in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba, in the groundbreaking ceremony of the first new factory of nanofertilizers in Brazil. This project marks an important milestone for the national agricultural industry, with an initial investment of US$ 12 million (approximately R$ 66 million). The investment also includes an advanced research and development center, demonstrating a commitment to innovation in the sector.
Partnership with India
A new factory of nanofertilizers was conceived by Nanoventions Brasil, which is part of the Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative group, the largest agricultural cooperative in India and one of the largest in the world.
After negotiations with local entrepreneurs, who became partners of Nanoventions Brasil, Indian Farmers chose Paraná as its first destination outside the Asian country for this international expansion project.

No one imagined it, but a mixture of sawdust with a mineral that fights fires surprises scientists with a result that changes the course of fire-resistant construction.
The production of nanofertilizers on Paraná soil is expected to reduce the dependency on agricultural inputs that are currently imported by state producers and the rest of Brazil.
The technology for nanofertilizers, developed by Indians after eight years of research and investments of US$ 200 million, represents a significant advancement over traditional fertilizers.
Nanofertilizers are more efficient and can therefore reduce costs for farmers, decrease input waste, and minimize environmental impacts.
Infrastructure and Production Capacity of the New Factory
The infrastructure of the new factory is expected to be completed in October, as part of an agile construction project.
A production line will be installed with equipment that will be shipped ready for assembly directly from the headquarters of Indian Farmers in India.
The production capacity of the new factory is estimated at 5 million liters of nanofertilizers per year, but Nanoventions Brasil plans to achieve this potential within just five years of operation.
Job Creation at the New Factory and Economic Projections
It is expected that by 2029, the operation of the new factory will generate approximately 150 direct jobs and 450 indirect jobs, with projected gross revenue of R$ 225 million annually starting from the fifth year of operation.
The state’s Secretary of Finance, Norberto Ortigara, who was present at the event, highlighted the significance of this achievement for Paraná farmers.
“Paraná is an important player in the global food market, and nanofertilizers reduce production costs and increase productivity. Therefore, we treated this negotiation with Indian Farmers with great attention, offering state benefits that will soon translate into advancements in our agriculture through innovation,” he commented.
Choice of Paraná for Installation
The co-founder of Nanoventions Brasil, Fausto José Caron, explained that the company evaluated six states in the South, Southeast, and Central-West regions for the installation of the new factory.
Paraná stood out for several conditions favorable to the growth of the business model.
“We held discussions with several states, but Paraná excelled for having a very well-structured tax benefit program, a robust infrastructure, highlighting the road network and the Port of Paranaguá, and a government team that has assisted us very well since the beginning,” Caron reported.
Nanofertilizer Technology and Its Impact
The program indicated by Caron is Paraná Competitivo, coordinated by Invest Paraná, the State Government’s Investment Attraction Agency.
The attraction of foreign companies to Paraná is the result of international missions promoted by Invest Paraná. It was through one of these partnerships that the Indo-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce referred Nanoventions Brasil to Invest Paraná.
Nanofertilizers use nanoparticles, ensuring greater efficiency in the absorption and use of nutrients.
This technology, widely used in India, revolutionized agricultural production and will now be applied in Paraná.
