Prio Forms Strategic Partnership with Shape Digital to Apply Artificial Intelligence in Offshore Operations in the Campos Basin, Boosting Efficiency and Reducing Operational Costs

The oil company Prio and the digital solutions developer Shape Digital, spin-off of Modec, announced an innovative agreement to apply Artificial Intelligence in offshore operations in the Campos Basin.

According to a report by Portos e Navios this Tuesday (28), the goal is clear: reduce operational downtime, increase asset reliability, and boost oil production. The initiative marks a milestone in the digitalization of the oil and gas industry in Brazil.

Production and Efficiency in Three Strategic Fields of the Campos Basin

The partnership involves the implementation of the Shape Lighthouse platform in three production units: Albacora Leste, Frade, and Tubarão Martelo, all located in the Campos Basin.

These units operate on FPSOs (Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading Units) with processing capacity of up to 380,000 barrels of oil per day and storage of over 1 million barrels.

According to Prio, the technology was successfully tested in a pilot project on the FPSO Valente, in the Frade field. It will now be expanded to the other units, focusing on predictive maintenance, risk management, and data-driven decisions.

Shape Lighthouse: Artificial Intelligence Applied to Offshore Management

The Shape Lighthouse platform uses more than 200 models of Artificial Intelligence combined with engineering equations to monitor and predict failures in critical equipment. This allows for anticipating problems before they become critical, reducing costs and avoiding unexpected interruptions.

Additionally, AI enables continuous analysis of operational data, optimizing asset performance and promoting more efficient management. The expectation is that the technology will reduce operational downtime by up to 15%, a significant gain for productivity and safety in operations.

Prio Initiative: Digital Transformation in the Brazilian Offshore Sector

The adoption of AI by Prio in partnership with Shape Digital represents a growing trend in the Brazilian offshore industry. The Campos Basin, responsible for a significant share of the national oil production, is becoming a laboratory for technological innovation.

This digital transformation not only improves operational indicators but also strengthens the competitiveness of Brazilian companies in the global market. In a sector where every minute of downtime represents millions in losses, the ability to predict and prevent failures is a strategic advantage.

Operational Efficiency and Sustainability with Artificial Intelligence

In addition to economic gains, the application of AI contributes to the reduction of environmental impact. With fewer downtimes and failures, there is a lower risk of leaks and accidents, reinforcing companies’ commitment to sustainability.

Predictive maintenance also allows for better logistical planning, reducing excessive resource usage and optimizing energy consumption. Thus, the technology acts as an ally in the quest for cleaner and more efficient operations.

Shape Digital: Innovation and Data Engineering in the Campos Basin

Shape Digital has stood out as one of the leading developers of digital solutions for the oil and gas sector. Focusing on Artificial Intelligence applied to offshore asset management, the company offers tools that combine engineering, data science, and automation.

Its operations in the Campos Basin, through the partnership with Prio, reinforce its position as a catalyst for digital transformation in the offshore sector. Shape Lighthouse is just one of the solutions that integrate its portfolio aimed at innovation and operational efficiency.

Prio: Leadership in Offshore Production Focused on AI

Prio, formerly PetroRio, is recognized for its strategy to revitalize mature fields and focus on operational efficiency. The adoption of AI in its platforms reinforces its commitment to technological innovation and sustainability.

With operations concentrated in the Campos Basin, the company constantly seeks to maximize production at lower costs and with greater safety. The agreement with Shape Digital is another step in that direction, consolidating its leadership in the sector.

Data and Studies Supporting Prio’s Initiative

According to studies conducted by the sector, the Campos Basin accounts for about 30% of the national oil production. The application of predictive technologies could represent a savings of millions of reais per year, considering the costs associated with unplanned downtimes.

International studies indicate that AI-based predictive maintenance can reduce maintenance costs by up to 40% and increase equipment lifespan by up to 20%. These figures reinforce the relevance of the initiative by Prio and Shape Digital for the sector.

Furthermore, Shape Digital estimates that the application of the Lighthouse platform can generate operational gains in energy efficiency and significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to more ambitious environmental goals.

The Future of Offshore Production in the Campos Basin

The partnership between Prio and Shape Digital is a game changer for the Brazilian offshore industry. By applying Artificial Intelligence in asset management in the Campos Basin, the companies not only increase efficiency and reduce costs but also promote a safer and more sustainable operation.

With promising results already observed in the pilot project, the expectation is that the technology will become standard in offshore operations. The digital transformation has reached the oil sector, and the Campos Basin is the epicenter of this revolution.

The initiative also paves the way for new collaborations between technology companies and oil operators, creating an innovation ecosystem that can be replicated in other producing regions of the country. The integration of engineering, data, and artificial intelligence will be increasingly essential to ensure the competitiveness and sustainability of the Brazilian energy industry.
