Gavião Belo Natural Gas Production Station Has Potential to Be the Second Largest in the Parnaíba Basin and Will Have Connections with Eneva’s Gas Treatment Unit (UTG)
Eneva has contracted Radix to develop the project – Gavião Belo Natural Gas Production Station, in the Parnaíba Basin (MA). Currently, various studies and process simulations and sizing of the main equipment are being carried out. The company, specialized in technology and engineering, has been a partner of Eneva for about six years and has been involved in several projects to serve the Parnaíba Complex in Maranhão and the Azulão Field in Silves – Amazonas.

The Gavião Belo Field Has Potential to Be the Second Largest Field in the Parnaíba Basin
To provide the necessary infrastructure for the project and size the interconnection pipelines of the clusters with the Gavião Belo Natural Gas Production Station, Radix is conducting a series of process simulation studies and sizing of the main equipment. The Gavião Belo field has potential to be the second largest field in the Parnaíba Basin, with an estimated Pmean volume of 6.78 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
“At the moment we are in a conceptual phase of the project, where the goal is to provide the necessary inputs for the field development. We are conducting process studies to size the main equipment and pipelines, and consequently defining the layout of the new plant to confirm the physical space needed to install this unit, which includes separation systems, condensate stabilization, condensate storage, measurement systems, loading islands, water capture, effluent treatment unit, in addition to electrical and control systems,” explains Augusto Castro, capital projects manager at Radix’s oil and gas unit.

Gavião Belo Will Have Connections with Eneva’s Gas Treatment Unit (UTG)
Gavião Belo will have connections with Eneva’s Gas Treatment Unit (UTG) located in Santo Antônio dos Lopes-MA, to which all the gas produced from the Gaviões Park is directed. Additionally, reserve connections for other wells or fields are already planned. Situated along the MA-362 highway, the new field plant is the most isolated in relation to the UTG, about 120km away, creating an additional logistical challenge.
“The entire control system of the new unit will be integrated with the Gas Treatment Unit located in Santo Antonio dos Lopes-MA allowing for remote monitoring of Gavião Belo. Radix, with its vast experience in developing projects for Eneva, will maintain the current operational philosophy of the other units, considering this new logistical factor regarding the distance of this new unit from the UTG. This unit will be implemented in an optimized space and will have infrastructure differentials enabling operational teams to work more autonomously,” says Augusto.
The Parnaíba Complex Is One of the Largest Natural Gas Power Generation Thermal Parks in Brazil
The Parnaíba Complex is one of the largest natural gas power generation thermal parks in Brazil and the pioneering project of the Reservoir-to-Wire (R2W) model in the country. The power generation at the thermoelectric plants is supplied directly from the natural gas fields developed and operated by Eneva, located near the park.
The Parnaíba Complex consists of the Parnaíba I, Parnaíba II, Parnaíba III, and Parnaíba IV plants, with two projects under development: Parnaíba V – in the final construction phase – and Parnaíba VI. All generated energy is sent to the National Interconnected System (SIN). Thus, Eneva plays an important role in the transition of the Brazilian energy matrix, providing energy from a flexible, economical, and efficient fuel. Besides the Parnaíba Basin, where Radix has developed various projects for Eneva, Radix has also worked on the engineering project of the Azulão field in the Amazonas Basin.
