Stellantis Revealed Its Response to the Increasingly Crowded Electric Truck Market During CES 2023: The Ram 1500 Revolution EV, a Broad-Shouldered Pickup Packed with Technology, a Longer Cabin with Foldable Third-Row Seats, Modern Cup Holders, and Even a Cinema Projector.
The Ram 1500 Revolution BEV concept is not what the Stellantis brand plans to put into production until 2024. Still, it provides a clear indication of Ram’s next-generation truck plans and how it intends to compete with other players in the emerging EV truck market, including the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Chevrolet Silverado EV.
Ram 1500 Revolution EV Features
To start discussing the Ram 1500 Revolution EV, the body architecture was designed for full-size EVs that integrate batteries, an aerodynamic panel on the bottom of the body, and an active diffuser to improve the vehicle’s aerodynamics.
Two electric drive modules are mounted on the front and rear axles to provide all-wheel drive, and a rear axle steering system allows the driver to turn the rear wheels up to 15 degrees. Ram has yet to reveal some key EV specifications, such as range and battery size; expect those later this quarter.

The brand states that the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV concept can add 100 miles of range in about 10 minutes with up to 350 kW of 800-volt DC fast charging. Of course, this suggests that the production version will feature an 800-volt electrical architecture, allowing for rapid and quick charging.
The Automaker Included Many Features, Technology, and a New Design Language in the Ram 1500 Revolution.
There are several interesting exterior design options for the Ram Revolution, including a new “face” that features a more modern font and an animated LED tuning fork headlight design. Perhaps the most notable design feature is the lack of B-pillars, which allows for a limousine-style door opening.
The design decisions make the interior feel even more spacious. The cabin is actually ten centimeters longer than Ram’s gasoline-powered trucks. The salon-style doors really drive this idea home.
The side mirrors are smaller than those of any other Ram truck, a design choice intended to reduce drag and increase aerodynamics. The rearview mirrors, which use digital cameras to capture the surroundings of the truck, are also made of 3D-printed parts.
The truck concept also features a rear camera and mirrors that communicate with biometric cameras that observe the truck’s surroundings. The truck is equipped with multiple embedded projectors to visually communicate information to the user. But we really care about this because the projector also works as a mobile cinema.
The Ram Revolution Concept features a glass roof, electrochromatic panels, and integrated roof rails. Inside the cabin, occupants can use the upper console to operate the ambient lighting.
They can also use Ram’s haptic sliding technology to set the sunshades or the entire electrochromatic roof to adjust opacity. Like many vehicles today, the Ram Revolution has a personal assistant. According to Ram, the 3D Ram avatar acts as the vehicle’s face and will respond to various voice commands from the user.
The foldable third-row seats, useful when intending to accommodate six people in the truck’s cabin, fold down until needed. The foldable seats are mounted in the center door with a removable bottom. The interior layout is highly flexible, allowing users to remove the center console and reconfigure the seats.
