Petrobras Announces A Mega Operation At The Henrique Lage Refinery (Revap) That Promises To Transform São José dos Campos! There Will Be 5,000 New Job Openings, With Hires Starting As Early As April, And A Colossal Investment Of R$ 1 Billion. Don’t Miss This Unique Opportunity To Be Part Of This Historic Milestone In The Brazilian Industry!

Amidst the industrial movements in São José dos Campos, an initiative promises to boost the local economy in the coming months.

Although the complete details are still being released, the expectation is that a major project at the Henrique Lage Refinery (Revap) will generate thousands of job opportunities and significant investments in the region.

Petrobras confirmed, according to a publication by Vale 360 News, that the scheduled maintenance shutdown at Revap will result in the creation of approximately 5,000 direct jobs, with hiring starting in April 2025.

The total investment planned for this maintenance is around R$ 1 billion. The information was obtained by Vale 360 News through direct contact with the state-owned company.

Job Openings Will Be For Local Labor

Marcelo Costa, president of the Construction Workers Union (Sintricom), emphasized that the selection of professionals will prioritize local labor.

“Our collective agreement dictates that 80% of the hired workers should be from São José dos Campos or nearby regions, such as Jacareí, Taubaté, Caraguatatuba, and São Sebastião,” Costa stated to Vale 360 News.

“This way, we can ensure that the regional economy directly benefits from job generation.”

The hiring will be done in partnership with the Workers’ Assistance Office (PAT) of São José dos Campos, located at Praça Afonso Pena, 175, in the city center.

The PAT will operate Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM, offering free services for employers and workers. The hiring companies will advertise the job openings both through PAT and through their own recruitment channels.

The Hiring Process Will Occur In Three Distinct Phases

  • Pre-Shutdown: from the end of March to early April;
  • Actual Shutdown: first phase between August and September;
  • Post-Shutdown: second phase from September to November.

After the maintenance is completed, the refinery will resume operations with a workforce of 2,500 to 3,000 permanent workers.

These phases are essential to ensure that the shutdown is carried out successfully and within the established timeframe.

The maintenance at Revap will meet Regulatory Standards NR-13 and the Inspection Plan, ensuring the safety and reliability of the facilities.

During the shutdown period, operational improvement projects will be implemented, including the relocation of dozens of equipment and tons of piping.

These actions aim to enhance the safety and efficiency of operations at the refinery.

The Refinery In Detail

The Henrique Lage Refinery, inaugurated in 1980, is one of the main oil processing units in Brazil.

Located in São José dos Campos, in the state of São Paulo, Revap has a capacity to process approximately 252,000 barrels of oil per day.

Among the derived products are gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and cooking gas (LPG), which are essential for supplying the national market.

The strategic location of Revap, close to the main highways and distribution centers in the country, such as Via Dutra, facilitates the transportation of the fuels produced to various consumer markets.

In addition, the refinery constantly invests in environmental and energy efficiency projects, adopting measures such as waste treatment, reduction of pollutant emissions, and improvement of water reuse in the industrial process.

Opportunity In The Region

The scheduled maintenance shutdown represents a significant opportunity for the local community, not only for job creation but also for strengthening the regional economy.

The expectation is that, by prioritizing local labor, various sectors will benefit, creating a positive cycle of development and growth for São José dos Campos and neighboring cities.

For interested workers, it is essential to keep track of the official announcements from PAT and the hiring companies, ensuring they are informed about the deadlines and requirements for available positions.

According to experts, the partnership between Petrobras, Sintricom, and PAT reinforces the commitment to transparency and the appreciation of regional labor, ensuring that the benefits of this initiative are widely distributed within the community.

With robust investments and a focus on continuous improvement, Revap consolidates its position as a key player in the Brazilian energy sector, contributing to the economic and social development of the Vale do Paraíba and the entire country.
