Drivers Now View The National Driving License Score As A Central Part Of Road Safety, With Clearer Rules, Defined Limits And Mechanisms That Directly Influence The Right To Drive

The points system for the CNH was created to promote safety and punish those who disrespect regulations. As a result, many drivers still have questions about the counting and the risks of suspension. Since 2021, the legislation has undergone changes that made the limit more flexible, although it maintained important requirements for all drivers.

Classification Of Violations And Scoring Rules

The classification of violations follows four levels of severity and, thus, determines how many points are recorded on the driving record. Minor violations generate three points, and medium violations add four points. In addition, serious violations add five points. Finally, very serious violations register seven points. This structure reinforces the need to comply with the rules and, therefore, reduces risky behaviors.

The traffic authorities organize this interpretation based on legislation, which includes the separation of severities and the recording of points according to each type of violation.

Points Limits And Criteria For Suspension Of The CNH

The limit for suspension has started to vary according to the driver’s history and thus considers the presence of very serious violations. This change occurred to adjust the impact of penalties.

The limits are as follows:

  • Up To 40 Points for those who do not have any very serious violations.
  • Up To 30 Points for those who commit one very serious violation.
  • Up To 20 Points for those who accumulate two or more very serious violations.

This framework allows for a better assessment of driver behavior and, therefore, defines when the right to drive should be suspended.

Consequences For Those Who Accumulate Violations

The accumulation of points is not the only consequence. Violations can generate other penalties and, thus, directly impact the right to drive. Very serious violations, such as driving under the influence or participating in illegal races, result in severe measures that go beyond fines and points. These violations can involve criminal and penal liability, which makes the situation even more delicate.

This set of effects requires constant attention from drivers and, therefore, reinforces the importance of understanding the system.

Measures To Monitor And Protect The CNH

Due to frequent doubts, drivers seek ways to protect their license. Therefore, regular monitoring of points and the adoption of preventive habits have become important practices.

Among the main recommendations are:

  • Periodically Monitor Your Points on the official Detran website.
  • Participate in Preventive Or Recycling Courses, whenever available.
  • Stay Updated on changes to traffic legislation.
  • Practice Defensive Driving in all situations.

These measures avoid penalties and, therefore, help keep the CNH in a regular situation.

Why Understanding The Points System Has Become Essential

Understanding the rules reduces risks and, consequently, avoids unpleasant surprises. Drivers who monitor their records better understand the consequences of violations and, thus, are able to preserve their right to drive. Thus, knowing how the points system works has ceased to be just a guideline and has become a fundamental requirement for all drivers.
