Neoenergia Launches Three New Projects for Offshore Wind Farms in the States of RS, CE, and Rio de Janeiro; Together, They Total 9 GW of Installed Capacity Across 600 Wind Turbines.
Neoenergia is starting in Rio de Janeiro, RS, and CE the three largest projects in planning in the country for the construction of offshore wind farms, which together total 9 GW of installed capacity across 600 wind turbines. Kicking off the week in full swing, over 400 job vacancies announced by a multinational, resume at the door Wednesday, January 8.

The projects are being developed through Força Eólica do Brasil (FEB), controlled by Neoenergia, through direct and indirect participation by Elektro Renováveis, from the same group.
In addition to these three new offshore wind projects from Neoenergia, the following projects have also started the environmental licensing with Ibama: the pilot project from Petrobras in Ubarana (RN); the BI Energia project; and Eólica Brasil (Asa Branca) in Ceará; and the Caju Offshore from Rialma (MA).
The company includes Rio de Janeiro, which will have its first offshore wind project in the state. The project is located on the route of the large mature producing fields of the Campos Basin, south of the Whale Park, on the coast of Espírito Santo, where the Maravilha 1 to 4 parks are located, belonging to the Maravilha complex, positioned between São João da Barra and Campos dos Goytacazes, RJ.
The state governor, Wilson Witzel (PSC), has advocated for the decentralization of energy auctions so that the state can make its own grants for wind and solar energy generation.
The complex is close to the shallow water fields recently sold by Petrobras to Perenco and has dense infrastructure for offshore production and oil transportation operations.
Energy will reach land through transmission cables that will run along the coast of São João da Barra, 10 km from Grussaí. From there, it will go to the substation on land, connected to the National Interconnected System (SIN).
One of the other projects to be installed will be the Jangada 1 to 4 parks on the coast of the municipality of Amontada, in Ceará. The complex is near the Atum, Xaréu, Curimã, and Espada fields, which Petrobras is selling in shallow waters of the Ceará Basin and the exploratory projects operated by Total, ExxonMobil, Premier Oil, and Chevron, contracted in the 11th auction by ANP (2013); and Wintershall, from the 15th auction (2018).
Ceará is the only one with a record of receiving a grant request (DRO) issued by Aneele, in addition to being one of the states with the highest potential for offshore wind installation, with a capacity of 117 GW, capable of generating 506 TWh to 520 TWh per year.
The third offshore wind project announced by Neoenergia will be in Rio Grande do Sul, in the Águas Claras complex, designed for the coast of the municipalities of Capão da Canoa and Xangri-lá, neighbors of Osório, a pioneering region that hosted the first wind farm in the country.
Rio Grande do Sul is currently the fourth largest in installed wind capacity (on land), with over 80 parks and 1.8 GW of power.
