Large Electric Sector Company Announces Construction of Four Wind Farms in the State of Rio Grande do Norte
CPFL announced that the state of Rio Grande do Norte will receive the construction of four new wind farms in the municipality of Touros, on the northern coast of Rio Grande do Norte.
The planned investments are around R$ 350 million and should be built by the end of this year or, at the latest, at the beginning of 2020.
The announcement was made during a meeting on 16/05 with the governor of the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Fátima Bezerra, where it was detailed that the project will also have 21 km of transmission lines.
The CPFL Renováveis project, called the Gameleira Wind Complex, is not the only investment by the company in the state.

Another ten parks located in the municipalities of Pedra Grande, Parazinho, and João Câmara are in the process of obtaining a preliminary license for commercialization still in 2019, with a generation forecast of 300 MW.
The company’s investments in Rio Grande do Norte began in 2010 and today produce about 800 MW, including the biomass project it holds in the state.
The governor celebrated the importance of the enterprise and declared, “We are discussing something fundamental for the economic activity of our State. However, at the same time that we have the commitment to develop RN, we must also care for the environment by promoting growth sustainably.”
Regarding the company’s social responsibility, the sustainability superintendent of CPFL, Fernando di Franco, mentioned the company’s actions in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, which carried out 11 projects with an investment of R$ 3.7 million, benefiting more than 805 families in João Câmara and São Miguel do Gostoso.
