Samsung Confirms Launch Of Smart Glasses With Camera Integrated At Eye Level, Processing Done On Smartphone And Strategy To Compete In Market Dominated By Meta

Samsung has confirmed that it will launch smart glasses with an integrated camera later this year. The device will feature a sensor at eye level and processing done on smartphones, a strategy that positions the company’s glasses as direct competitors to Meta’s Ray-Ban.

Samsung Confirms Camera In Smart Glasses

During an interview with CNBC, Samsung’s Vice President of Business, Jay Kim, confirmed that the company’s smart glasses will have an integrated camera positioned at eye level.

The executive explained that the sensor will allow capturing images and videos directly from the user’s point of view, a proposal similar to that adopted by Meta’s Ray-Ban, which has a built-in camera in the structure of the accessory.

Processing Will Be Done On Smartphone

According to Kim, the smart glasses will not perform all processing internally. The information captured by the camera will be sent to a smartphone, responsible for processing the received data.

There are no details yet on how this connection will work. It is likely that there will be wireless integration between the devices, possibly limited to Samsung’s own devices, although this possibility has not yet been officially confirmed.

Market Dominated By Meta

Samsung also aims to compete in a market currently dominated by Meta. With Ray-Ban, the company controls over 80% of the global smart glasses market.

The entry of the South Korean manufacturer indicates an attempt to gain a share of this sector, which has been attracting attention from technology companies interested in wearable devices with image-capturing capabilities and digital integration.

Speculated Specifications Of The Device

Information circulating about the smart glasses suggests that the device may have a 155 mAh battery and utilize the Qualcomm AR1 chip.

There is also an expectation that the camera will have a resolution of 12 MP, allowing users to capture photos and record videos directly from the accessory worn on the face.

Samsung’s proposal would be to offer a lighter and more compact product for everyday use, unlike more complex devices aimed at mixed reality.

Possible Launch Window

The smart glasses could become one of the company’s main announcements in 2026. The company had already suggested earlier this year that the launch would happen during this period.

Analysts point out that a window between September and November would be plausible, considering Samsung’s historical events and announcements over the past years.
