São Braz Announces Opening of New Factory in the Northeast. Project in the State of Bahia Promises to Create Thousands of New Jobs with an Investment of R$ 340 Million.

The Paraíba-based São Braz, one of the leaders in the food sector in Brazil’s Northeast, is expanding its operations in Bahia with the opening of a new factory this Friday (28). With an investment of over R$ 340 million — the largest ever made by the company in its over 70 years of history — the new unit reinforces São Braz’s commitment to economic development, job creation, and strengthening the regional production chain. Located in a strategic hub in Bahia, the factory promises to increase the company’s production and distribution capacity, further boosting its presence in the national market.

New Factory in the Northeast Covers Approximately 85,000 m²

According to the company’s CEO, Leonel Freire, the arrival of São Braz in Bahia represents not only an expansion of activities but also a landmark in the company’s history. Freire states that the company is bringing to the Northeast state not only investments but also its entire experience in producing high-quality food.

The new factory in Bahia was built in Conceição do Jacuípe, approximately 100 km from Salvador, and covers about 85,000 square meters. The new unit, with a multimillion-dollar investment, features technology from the world leader in mill manufacturing, the Swiss Group Bühler.

According to the executive, for São Braz, quality is a non-negotiable factor, and its commitment is to offer its customers the best products with the highest quality. In this way, it pays special attention to all the processes in the new factory in the Northeast state, as well as throughout the company, investing in cutting-edge technologies that ensure unquestionable quality products.

In the state of Bahia, São Braz will produce corn flours, Pippo’s snacks, as well as seasonings and colorings. However, there are plans to add products every new year, bringing diversity to the portfolio produced in the state.

Investment in the New Factory Promises to Create Thousands of Jobs

The installation of the new factory in the Northeast is expected to have a significant positive impact on the local economy, initially generating around 1,300 direct and indirect jobs, potentially reaching 2,300. In addition, São Braz plans to partner with local suppliers, strengthening the regional production chain.

Sustainability is also an essential pillar for São Braz. The Northeast company has already implemented the purchase of recycling credits within the Brazilian solid waste policy.

The new factory was designed to reduce environmental impacts, featuring an electric mill and natural gas ovens, as well as adhering to strict standards for water treatment and reuse. The energy used is purchased on the free market, with a significant portion generated from clean energy sources.

In addition to the construction of the new factory, with a multimillion-dollar investment, a large Distribution Center, covering over 5,000 m², is being developed in Conceição do Jacuípe. This center will receive and distribute not only what is produced in Bahia but also products coming from Cabedelo in the state of Paraíba, functioning as a major regional distribution center.

Understand São Braz’s Plans for the Northeast

According to the Commercial Director of the company, Walber Santos, initially, the goal is to meet the demands of the Northeast region, facilitating logistics for states where it is already present, such as Pernambuco, Sergipe, and Alagoas, for example. Thus, it is reorganizing its operations to subsequently expand to other states.

With this investment, São Braz reaffirms its leadership role in the Northeast market during a time of significant growth. According to businessman Eduardo Carlos, Chairman of the Board, the expansion into Bahia is a strategic move that strengthens its regional presence and continues a successful trajectory begun more than seven decades ago.
